When did this happen?!

Well, okay, that's kind of a stupid question. I know when this happened: 16 days ago. On January 9th, during the grand opening of Nintendo of Korea, a korean-based gaming company known as Nexon confirmed a rumor that has been in speculation for quite some time...

Maple Story is coming to Nintendo DS.

Currently planned for release in September of this year in Korea, it is assumed that the game will reach North American and Japanese markets later in the year or sometime in 2008. The game will take advantage of the DS's touch screen capabilities and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service, allowing gamers to play online wirelessly. Although this is unconfirmed, some believe accounts created on the PC version can be transferred to the DS version, although I have doubts this is true.

Right now, the big question is what to make of this. I'm debating in my head whether or not I will actually invest in this. After all, I remember enjoying it, and the game was quite addicting. But in the same breath, the game lacks originality and it very simple and straight-forward. And let's not forget the cartoony, amateur graphics. However, I've never been one to dismiss a game based on graphical quality (after all, Wind Waker was one of my favorite Zelda games and certain aspects of the ending and storyline were nothing short of mature), so I don't consider that a factor.

I think most gamers who play Maple Story before playing many other MMORPGs will find the game to be amazing, as I'm sure many of you can agree. However, it's safe to say that most gamers who play other MMORPGs after playing Maple Story realize how lackluster Nexon's online hack-and-slash can actually be.

Regardless, I have fond memories of Maple Story, as ridiculous as that sounds. So unless I have a drastic change of heart, I can see myself purchasing Maple Story DS when it's released in the states, assuming it eventually is.

Thats new news to me. I wouldnt know for sure but i dont think it would be the full version for the PC, or have linked servers to the PC. Cause then how would the DS download patches?

It would be interesting having ms be a single player on the DS though, so you can train wherever you want or go wherever you want without being bugged by all the whiney poopers >_>
