heh, a year old already? wow

anyways, here's my 2 cents: i think the PSP has a lot better graphics and some of the games are better, and the fact that the PSP lets you play movies, music, surf the web, etc.

but to me, that seems really similar to a computer.

the DS, is quite different. Nintendo's upper-hand has always been innovation, "what is new and original?" and the DS is no exception. yea, it might hace lesser graphics, but i think a DS has a lot more enjoyable playing experience. so i guess i favor the DS more than the PSP (even though i own a psp).

im sorry but a PSP is just too much like other systems and such. yea, the graphics blew me away for a handheld, and all the other features grabbed me too, but all of these things i have seen and used before

you cant stay quiet can you hammy?

My step brother has a PSP (he's too stupid to figure out how to use all the extra features that dont invove gaming... nor does he play games on it either cause there really arent any games out there that are really worth buying in my opinion....) and I played it a little bit... the thing really is a joke in my eyes. Sony might as well just use this line as an advertising thinger..... "It can play movies, MP3s, surf the net, be an alarm clock, a paperweight and it can even PLAY GAMES!!!".....

If you want to go on that boat.... the Ngage is in the same realm to me

The DS on the other hand..... well... it's made by Nintendo meaning that it has to be innovative. Every first party Nintendo game pwns... and they've made a bunch of them for the DS along with a decent library of 3rd party games that are awesome.

Amen, Brother Llama! Amen!

i completely agree with you there. like i said, theres just nothing very "new" to the PSP, except for the fact that better graphics get smaller and smaller, but thats about it. its getting to a point where everyone knows what to expect out of Sony these days, but nintendo is always a surprise, not just with the DS, but with the Wii too.

"PSP plays movies, songs, tells you the time, and even craks your walnuts for you! buy one today!" ROFL

yea DS definetly has my opinion here and the DS doesn't have that bad graphics compared to PSP but i think the best thing about DS is the touch screen cuz it opens a whole new opportunity of gaming. :masterchief:

This is the first time this topic's more recent acitivity has crossed my eyes. Let me just say one thing...

Hammy, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You don't have to agree with the opinions expressed by others, such as Llama and Papa, but atleast respect it. You can rebuttal their opinions only if you have a valid argument.

In all honesty, the thing you mentioned about the PSP's game library suiting your needs more than the DS's games is a perfectly legit argument. Well said. However, your justified standpoint went wrong after you said "there u go guys this solves and now u can close the topic." That didn't solve anything; it was just an opinion. And the question of "which is better: ds or psp?" is opinion-based, so it can't be solved.

And I don't see anything in the Clan Constitution that states old topics of over two years in age need to be closed. According to Article 3.B, "VSC's Administration reserve the right to close topics, move topics, rename topics, delete topics, pin topics, etc. To avoid topics being commonly closed or deleted, please refrain from misbehavior and off-topic posts." You're not an admin, so you can't close a topic, and there's nothing off-topic or inappropriate about this particular topic. Sure, I think I can speak for all of us when I say we don't prefer to see really old topics popping up again, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. If there's a good reason for it, I'm all for it.

Anyway, getting back on topic, I agree... I like the DS more than the PSP. That's just my opinion. Although the DS's sales are still dominating the PSP's sales in both US and Japan, the PSP is putting up much more of a fight nowadays. I believe the reasoning for this is the PSP's new assortment of games, such as the new GTA game. I once owned a PSP, and sold it. Although I don't regret selling it, some of these new games that are coming out are making me begin to second guess myself, haha.

Thank you! I can't believe that you brought up this 2 month old topic. However I am glad you are keeping Hammy in line now. He has spammed on countless amounts of posts and has triple posted on his own topic in Town Square. He has got to learn how to post correctly. That reminds me, wheres that Posting and You Video?

Ok back on topic. I think the PSP is better than the DS even though it isn't selling as much as the DS. PSP has definatly set the standard for handhelds, especially with the UMD disk. It has more functions that the DS doesn't like watching movies, listening to music, internet access and better graphic games. I don't really like the idea of having 2 screens like the DS because I like concentrating on 1 screen. Even though the higher sales of the DS may make it seem better, the PSP, to me, seems to offer a better experiance than the DS.

Actually, heres a bit of psp news from gamespot. The UMD disk were actually starting to become a huge flop. So now sony is making an online shop where you can download movies right to your psp, that should rival itunes. Sounds better then the UMDs >_>
I dont even think theres anything else that can play those?

What? Sony's idea failed? That's their like what.... fifth format that is a flop like that now?

Hmm... I wont be putting much focus on Blu-Ray

Anyhow, back on topic...

I have only used a PSP once, and don't really care for more, but... Can you "LAN" with other people who dont have the game?

With most multiplayer DS games, you can do that. My sister won a DS and then her boyfriend bought one during thanksgiving, and it was fun playing Mario Kart against them both when we only had one Mario Kart game.

Well I guess the UMDs could become obsolete. Probably because the new handhelds in the future will just let you download movies and games. However I think there will be so much copying and copyright infringing that the idea of just downloading everything to the handheld would not be that profitable. Copying things on the computer would be much easier than trying to copy a UMD disk. With these thoughts in mind, I think the UMD is better. However, everything is becoming so accessable through programs such as Limewire that get around the copyright laws. So it sure does seem that the future handhelds will stop having game cartriges or disks and convert solely to downloaded items.

The problem was that Sony pushed the format too far before having decent "players" out. They tried to have movies out for it and all that right away before anyone really liked the system. They need to get good support for the PSP before trying to do the whole movie thing.

Think about Nintendo's GameBoy Video line, where they had cartoons on the little GBA cartridges. Those came out when everyone and their mother already had two GBAs. They still weren't really "sucessfull" but they did pretty good. They did better than the PSP's movies did I would assume.
