ya your right. u dont need a dvd player on a handheld. its just a another money waster. i mean, who doesnt have a tv at home?!?! mp3 is ok i guess, but seriously, u have to spend time changing CD's into mp3 files and putting it on your ds/psp. wouldnt u want to PLAY it instead of using it as a music storage bin? cuz im gettin an mp3 player for xmas so i wouldnt even need the mp3 on the ds/psp.

ok, if u want someone to argue about this with, its definitely lesolithe. as u can see, we've already been there. just look at my sig!

All I get from that is that Leso is bisexual >_>. Only God knows.
But seriously, PSP may have much better technology, but DS actually has good games coming with it and launching in the near future. In price PSP>DS. In battery life...omg...PSP can run for just over three hours with a more advanced game or a movie; 6 or so with less advanced apps. The DS will have the batt. life of a GBA (10+ hours). That enough is a pain in the @$$ to me. I hate switching out batts..

As it stands, I am not gay, or in any variation of it, and Papa there has edited most of the convo out... it mostly concerned the use of the Memory Stick as the primary format of memory.

On topic, now... I'm glad Nintendo is finally taking a step towards the future. While the music and movies run from and SD card (made by Panasonic), I can still see this selling fairly well to older Nintendo fans. However, I have recently read a preview on IGN, and I'm not as impressed as I thought I would be. While they say the music seems to run nicely, surprising for cartridge based media, the movies seemed to suffer from compression; never a good sign. I hope that, perhaps, such problems will be fixed before these devices start to ship in February, but I wouldn't bet on it.... to design and program a more effective compression format would take a lot more than two months.
Yeah, we all know the image in avatar is a fake PS3 logo. Nobody needs to tell me. >.>

yeah...its such a waste of time. instead of working on a movie player thing that will probably never work well they should work on more important things...like a cure for aids...or a way to control climate...maybe a way to stop the sun from exploding...or a way to stop us all being attacked by terrorist...or maybe cool stuff for the PSP o_o

O, I didn't know Papa edited it, lol...:D
Well, you are right, cartridges<disks...but still, I have not even seen an RPG in planning that I RECOGNIZE!! WTF! That is proposterous! :P
But still, MGS card battlers and RPGs made by Level 5 are both subtracting to the PSP likability. Level 5 made Dark Cloud 1/2 (2 of the most boring titles ever made...the mechanics were terrible, but some may argue) and cancelled most of their projects that looked half good. I think they might be the Dragon Warrior Continuation Company...and I hate that also. I mean, Nintendo may always have a problem with the next-generation transition, but in the end the games are what counts. I am more impressed with the planned games on the DS. Somehow THEY have their ancient hands on my favorite series-s (is there a plural for this...?)...especially in the RPG front. How, do you suppose? That is still unknown to me...Nintendo burnt many bridges since their "good-ol' dayz" of the first generation of gaming.

I don't understand why you hate DG/DW so much.... it was the first RPG, in the style that we know, ever made, and inspired FF. As well, Level 5 is an awesome dev. You really don't give them enough credit. ;D

No, Level 5 does not even have enough money and resources to make their own games...they cancelled all their major projects. They said things like, "Check out this new, astronomical MMO game we are developing!" Two months later, they cancelled it because of lack of funds (True Fantasy Online). Point proven. Off-topic still though...
DS>PSP, for now. Any objections?

Nintendo has been burning bridges, huh? I understand your point fully, but allow me to disgaree. Rather, I'd say that Nintendo is simply determined. They have a selected mind-set, and stick with it. For instance, remember the big emphasis on the GCN-GBA connectivity feature? Back when it was praised by Nintendo at E3, most people could careless. But alas, Nintendo continued to push the connectivity feature because they believed it was innovative (in reality, it was... although variety lagged). Critisism didn't break through the company's devotion to stay with the game plan.

I believe we can expect that same thing with the DS and the next-gen consoles. Nintendo has new innovative ideas up their sleeves with their new wireless DS system (as we've seen), and they claim that the 'Revolution' will also do new things we've never experienced before. Sure, the gaming population may not be ready for Nintendo's new plans, or perhaps they won't choose to get involved in it... but Nintendo won't give up. They'll never just drop the project and start from scratch. They'll take it all the way.

Now you may be asking me, if Nintendo is so devoted to their philosophies, why aren't they dead yet? In an age of rapidly changing interest in gaming, some of Nintendo's ideas may fail, especially amongst the more casual gamer. Moving back to the GCN-GBA link... it didn't stir much hype, so didn't it hurt the company? Well, you see, there's more to it. Along with determination is experience. Nintendo has experience, and when some ideas fail, they'll come up with new ones to balance it out. Although Nintendo will never rewrite their gaming philosophy to adapt to the changing gaming industry, they will find various ways to survive. Determination and experience... hand and hand, it goes a long way.

Tails has a point; Nintendo is a company that never gives up. GC has almost made them bankrupt though. Next time you go to a game retailer, check the shelves. In my nearest GameStop, they have 1 shelf for the GC, 5 for the PS2, and 3 for the XBoX. That is just an example. It is also reported that in this generation of consoles, the PS2 has 70% of the total sales in all products in the gaming industry. The GC has less than 10%. They are not exact but they are close to the last time I have checked statistics.
Nintendo can always be counted on to make a fun product. The GC has many quality games, but no expansive library whatsoever. It lacks RPG games almost entirely and has one or two strategy games, for example. But they will always have Zelda, :D.
PS2 has a huge selection, but I would have to say much of it is utter crap. The games that people actually buy though (usually) are outstanding. Any PS system rules the RPG realm entirely, and this will most likely never change.
XBoX has a decent selection, but most of the titles are A.) Fighting, B.) Sports, C.) Racing, or D.) FPS. They have an RPG here and there but none (including Fable...) are quality.

The GC-GBA connection was mostly a pain in the arse to me, except in a few titles. I found many of the connections to be worthless or defective (Sonic Adventure 2: Battle to Sonic Advance...both were great games...but the Chao connection was pointless). I found enjoyment in just a sole connection I tried...On a personal GC favorite, Zelda: The Wind Waker. It actually had some bearing on the game; the connection was necessary for a side quest that resulted in many rupees at its conclusion. It was enjoyable in that it was fun and rewarding to your quest.
The Revolution, with all the lack of information, leads us to false conclusions and second-judgement. Some fear it, some like the concepts that leaked out; but we should not think about it until Nintendo spills the goods.

allright let me come form a neurtal perspective since i don't have either

In my opinion i woul go for the PSP even though the DS is getting an upgrade to compete with it. At my age i just don't really want to play mario or whatever nintendo has to offer these days. I agree with animal crossing and MP but that is all.

Now look at the PSP. It has great games coming from Sony which i like a lot better than Nintendo. I like sports games to which really helps my decision. Just because of the music. PSP can still log onto the internet which also helps Llama's brothers decision. (lol porn get it) Overall I think the PSP is a much better gaming system than the DS but i am not sure on the prices of how much the diff is.

There u go guys this solves and now u can close the topic.

hey since like everyone posted something here i might as well.

I personally think the DS is better cuz it uses newer technology and has cool games such as animal crossing etc, but the PSP has a a cool widescreen, couple good games for it but most of them are remakes and nuttin much original.

So i rather have DS but thats just me. :masterchief:

yea! bad guitar freak for voicing your opinion! THROW HIM IN THE LION PIT!

settle down Hammy... you dont have the right to close a topic like that... hell this topic is almost 2 years old and you're calling the shots now?

*sigh*

You came from a strongly bias opinion there and didnt give the DS a chance and came off saying that their games are trash where the PSP is worth having...

Neutral? My ass.
