Hello everyone. Guess what I did yesterday? I was at my local mall with Pinkyton and company, and my local EB Games had TWO fully playable Nintendo DS systems on display for gamers to try out. I started at the system in all it's glory, as two kids were currently using it's wireless capabilities to compete in Metroid Prime: Hunters. When they were done, I walked up to the system, and stared at it's beauty. I firmly pressed and held down the power button on the left, and when I released my finger from the button. the power went on. The words Nintendo DS graced the top screen, with a cool little sound effect and visual effect to start it up. The bottom screen had Nintendo's standard health warning. The bottom screen also says, "Touch here to continue". Upon touching, I game to a new menu screen. I saw an option to play the inserted game, which was Metroid Prime: Hunters. I also say a Pictochat option, a settings option, and an option to download content. Anyway, I first tried the Pictochat. It's solid, and fun to use. You can use the provided keyboard on the bottom screen, or you can use the system-included pen (or just your fingers) to draw and doodle messages as well. I eventually returned to the start-up menu, and selected Metroid Prime: Hunters. After a graphically impressive opening sequence which showed a camera spin around Samu's body, which reached across both screeens, me and my twin brother decided to go head-to-head. The game was awesome. The graphics were nice, but not extremely special (the lighthing and resolution were probably responsible for this, no biggie), and the sound was crisp and clear. The gameplay was intense. I clicked an icon on my bottom screen to roll into the morph ball, and roll around while planting bombs gallore. I also used the trigger buttons to fire my arm cannon at my opponent. Dragging my hand on the bottom screen, I changed the camera while I was in motion. It was awesome. Now, dragging off topic real quick, let me tell you the rets of the story. Later on that day, in the same mall, I stopped by Gamestop to see, by my surprize, a playable Resident Evil 4 demo! WOW! It was awesome. Pure awesomness. Best graphics... ever! Within the first few minutes there is tons of action. And the new perspective is interesting. Although what boggles my mind is... how could the character (Leon) avoid death after I got his feet trapped in bear-traps three or four times, lol. Ah, between Nintnedo DS, and Resident Evil 4... wow... what a day that was. I'm still in awe. Luckily, the Nintendo DS is only a few days away. It's so close, you can feel it. |

Today's the big day, and I'm pleased to say...... I HAVE IT! YAY!!! Of cource, getting it wasn't easy, it was actually quite difficult. Let me explain, in the following, brief story... A INSPIRATIONAL STORY Alright, so my twin bro calls the local Gamestop (which is at the mall) this morning, and he tells me that Gamestop has already sold two unreserved copies in the first hour and have 8 left. So a little after noon, we go to the mall, highly optimistic, with our hopes reaching high above us. We walk into Gamestop, and are displeased to hear they are sold out (all they had left were reserved copies). Alright, so now we rushed to the other gaming store, EB Games. They're fresh out too. We then try every location we can possibly think of... KB Toys (they were raffeling off their DS's.. but of cource, if you won the raffle, you'd still have to pay for it, lol), Boscovs (no luck there), Sam Goody (they got two in, and sold both already)... we tried everything with no success. Then my brother, being overly desperate, went to a pay phone, coughed up some change, and dialed the operator. They told us to call "411". We called "411", they told us to dial the operator. When we finally worked things out, we got the phone number to Circuit City and asked if the had any DS's. They said they had only a few left. We asked if they could hold one for us. They said no. Thus, we stormed out the mall, on foot, and began running the half-a-mile or so from the mall to Circuit City. This is where it got interesting. Two boneheads, running across a busy highway, rushing in hopes of getting their hands on Nintendo's new system. But hey, the running gave us exercise, and the rush of adrenilin really got me excited. Anyway, we arrived at Circuit City exhausted, and went to the customer service desk, where we asked if they had any DS's left. We had just caught our breath, when they took out a DS and rung it up. Unfortunetly, being the smart shopper who manages his money well, I had to pay for most of it. (Now my bro and Pinkyton are in my debt.... o_o !!!) Buty alas, I now have it! YAY! So, there you go... when at first you fail, try again. Maybe that will inspire you to.... uh, run accross highways?!? Nah, it should inspire you to buy a friggen DS!!! Expect a "Super Mario 64 DS" soon... |

How far I ran isn't the point... >_<
Yea, I have a game. That one. And it's really awesome, too. It brings back memories, although at the point of the castle where there's two glass pictures of peach (you know, and one of them leads to a secret slide level?)... there's more doors! One of them has a new level, with a boss called Goomboss. And there's a mini-level with the music from super mario sunshine. o_o |

I'm falling in LOVE with Mario 64 DS. Not drastically different from the original, but it has a lot of differences, especially with the addition of the new characters! O_O |

True that, I hear ya. I'm seriously... uh, well... addicited to that game. I'm playing it more than the new Metroid game, Halo 2, and the third Ratchet & Clank. Ironically, I'm addicted to a game that I've already played before. But of cource, that statement isn't entirely true... since the game has been revised entirely throughout to incorpurate touch screen interactivity, new mini-games, new stages, new characters, and new stars. The game also has a multiplayer mode, although I have yet to play it. Just seeing, quite possibly, the greatest platformer of all time in your hands is exciting enough for me. Anyway, this game is just fun... a must-have if you're planning to get a DS soon. However, whether or not you choose to get a DS is a question you may be asking yourself. Here's a list of pros and cons that may help you with your decision. NINTENDO DS'S PROS -Double screens equal limitless potential -Touch screen works with your hand or any included accesories (stylus/thumb-padding) -Plays GBA games -Graphics on par (if not higher than) with N64's graphical capabilities (however, screen resolution affects visual display) -Wireless multiplayer, as well as Wi-Fi and online play capabilities -Metroid Prime: Hunters demo and Pictochat included -Only costs a resonable $150 NINTENDO DS'S CONS -Doesn't play GB/GBC games -Doesn't support "link-up" GBA multiplayer (there's no port to plug in a GBA link cable) -Numerous consoles have been reported to have a few dead pixels -Needs to be recharged before any serious usage -Limited launch titles (but expect tons of new titles soon) In my opinion, any fan who has been waiting for the DS shouldn't wait to experience the DS... get it now! (And while you're at it, get Super Mario 64 DS!) However, with a few pixel problems that need to be worked out (btw, if your DS has dead pixels, you can send it to Nintendo to be fixed free-of-charge), and a currently limited game selection, unanxious gamers can certainly hold off for a little while. But with a system this revolutionary, you'll need to own one eventually. Believe you me.

Final Fantasy III is being remade for the DS. With new stuff. Yeah. Mario 64 DS' control scheme SUCKS. I f'ucking hate it. At first I was wondering why everyone said it was so bad, but when you get into it, and get into particular levels (The snow level to be specific, I hate the racing penguin mission, without the joystick I ALWAYS FALL OFF THE SLIDE!) Despite that major flaw...Super Mario 64 DS is a pretty decent port that will bring nostalgic moments to anyone who's played the original on the 64. |

Very true. Super Mario 64 DS's control scheme for the default control settings suck miserably. Oh, but there's two other control methods... oh wait, those suck too. I overlooked the controls before... heh. If you're patient, and can deal with the flaws and mistakes that spring up from the butchered control scheme, it's not too bad. Overlooking the controls, it's excellent in many ways... if not every way. Yea, there's gonna be FF: CC and FF III. I actually think the fans chose to see that game on the DS, since their website had a poll asking which game you'd like to see on the DS... |

Sort of off subject, but not by much. Tails, that "download" option on the main menu if for playing multiplayer games when you yourself don't have the game cartridge.... so, say someone was hosting an MPH:TFH game, but you didn't have the cartridge inserted. You could simply press that and play the game with all the information on the other cart. ;D |
| Yeah, we all know the image in avatar is a fake PS3 logo. Nobody needs to tell me. >.> | |
