With one week left on the stopwatch left to DS's launch, let's gets some new facts straight. -EB Games is still doing pre-orders(Or so i heard from a kid who got his pre-order yesterday) -EB games has a REAL good promotion for the DS. Until Nov. 30th, if you come in with a GBASP(but i think it might include a regular one too, check your local store) and 3 GBA games, you get 50 bucks off the DS. Nifty, eh? -The launch games are as follows- --Asphalt Urban GT- a racing game --Feel the Magic: XY/XX -a Wario-ware-esque game with an actual story. You're a guy trying to get a girl by doing random things with the touch screen and saying stuff into the built in microphone --Madden NFL 2005 -football game --Metroid Prime: Hunters (demo bundled with the DS) -demo of the real Hunters, coming out Jan-Feb 2005 --Mr. Driller Drill Spirits -puzzle game starring Mr. Driller --Ping Pals -upgrade of Pictochat, though if it worth it..... --PictoChat (built-in) -AIM for the DS, using it's wireless functionality --Rayman DS -Rayman for DS....duh --Ridge Racer DS -another racing game. The car is controlled by the touch screen, a makeshift analog controller.....really --Spider-Man 2 -i'll let you guess this one --Super Mario 64 DS -"remake" of Super Mario 64. this time you're playinng as different Mario characters(Yoshi, Wario, etc.) trying to collect all the stars in Peach's castle. Multiplayer capabilities abound. --The Urbz: Sims in the City -The sims, but set in an urban landscape. -The DS's wireless capabilities are !200 ft! while they are in line of sight, but it drops to 30 ft when walls and stuff is in the way. Watch for antenna upgrades....though not necessarily official....wink wink. -yes, microphone. Don't worry, you'll actually use it. EG in Wario Ware DS, one mini game has you blowing out candles....I can't wait to play that on a crowded subway.....
-In the package, you get Pictochat(pre-loaded), and a demo cartridge of MP-H First Hunt(aka Demo). -It charges through the same type of port as GBA-SP...altough why you would care i do not know.....i mean, there is a headphone port already....meh -Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 is not coming out until Dec. 15th, even though it was supposed to be a launch title. -Approximate size of the DS is about the same as the regular GBA when folded, but a little thicker, tall as the SP unfolded when DS unfolded. -Yes the DS is backwards compatible with GBA games. There are two slots for games now. -The DS's cartridges are about half the size of the GBA cartridges, continuing the tradition of halfing stuff. -Speaking of halfing, the SP's battery lasted for 14-16 hours, while the DS's will rate 10-14, depending on backlight usage. -don't worry about your ickle little DS cartridges, you won't have to yank em out this time. It uses a spring loaded machanism much like the NES. Push in normally, then push in further to take out. -Retail price of the DS at launch witll be $149.99 and games will run you from 29.99(Mario) to 49.99. -One cartiridge, 4 players for real this time, the Wireless network lets you download the game much faster, so 4 players can REALLY play one game, instead of some tone downed one -Built in alarm clock, handy -You can choose which screen to play GBA games in |

The DS are already in a high demand, and I know of some game store locations that can no longer accept DS reservations. This kinda reminds me of the N64 days... at launch, it was on high demand... and you couldn't really find it anywhere when it first came out. But as soon as the demands were met, after the holiday season, sales sky-rocketed. So, although I'd love to get a DS ASAP... I might have to wait until puchasing one is much simpler to do. Besides, as long as it sells well, I'll be pleased. It'd be good to know that Nintendo's experiment got off its feet. Take the DS. Actually, on second thought... man, that's a tough chocie to make. How old is your current compy? |

That's odd, I thought there would be more games at it's launch than that. Oh well. I believed that the DS would be online, and when they meant wireless it like the sameway they get online with cell phones... Not just a measly 200 ft. I'd be extremely lucky to find someone I don't know just walking around with their DS 200 ft away... I don't live in a very crowded place. Iuno.. Maybe at the mall or something. I've seen Pictochat screenshots and such, you can basically send hand written images with a pen tool/finger to other people using their DS. Up to 4 people can send eachother messages at a time, which would be even cooler if Nintendo had lamanged to get it online. I'm seriously relieved that you can have just one cartridge now. It was a hassle to get the GBAs with no cartidges to work with just the one--plus it got old... That was one of my bigger stresses on the DS. Sinow--get the DS. You're compy is fine. You can play almost any game the forum has made topics on, don't worry. Out. |

The DS IS Online capabile, alas, it's from the same people that said the GameCube is online capable. Cherrio, Need For Speed: Underground 2 is another online game GC owners can enjoy online(or at least it says so on the box....) The DS operates on the same network as popular computer wireless networking cards, so theoretically, with the right software, you CAN connect the DS at one of these hotspots, or even a computer to download free stuff that nintendo offers, special promo stuff(cough roms cough). No word on the DS flashcart, though I heard a store in Hong Kong is selling them 4 days after launch..... Edit- Oh no! Tis horror! It seems the PSP has come out of the closet*snicker*. Japan release date is only 10 DAYS after DS's launch in Japan. So basically Japan launch is December 12th. Now gamers are not gonna have enough time to buy both, so they're gonna have to make a decision..... Viva los DS'os! Viva la Dualo Screeno Revolution....o! |
