- I've been looking at getting this game, but it never crossed my mind, because of the unique playability of online compatibility, which I thought was a strange twist to the role-playing fantasy of the offline Final Fantasy series. It seemed to me like the idea of online gameplay was going so far forward that soon enough, every game will most likely be played or NEED to be played over the internet. I liked it when the FF series were offline, because most of the time online, people can be complete imbeciles... -

Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia

Ok, the name sounds a little strange, but the game itself is by far more worthy than any other game that has the interest in online gameplay.

Online gameplay is starting to take over, creating a new sensation around the globe and sharing the intense reality of playing with people you either hardly even know, or you've known for your entire life. It seems that the Final Fantasy series might be taking the big leap into online gaming spree. It could be the end for the FF series, or the beginning of a new era for its success.

Of course, the Square Enix (I think that's Square Soft and Enix or something joined together, or just some other company) team retain their reputation of growing graphically advanced games, as in this game, graphics are most likely the best you'll see for this decade (until 2010).

This is but one of what the future holds for the fans being held by metal chains so they don't destroy the gaming shops.

Graphics have become a major part in gaming now, a serious threat to anyone that doesn't keep up the awesome features will most likely fall apart, however games aren't always about graphics, BUT, people are more intrigued by a graphical image on the front cover on the game, rather than some random thing that doesn't seem to interesting, more to the point in where you're confused about what the game is really about.

Anyway, this giant step in the direction of internet access will keep the lungs of breathless people full, the hearts of dead ones pumping and the twitches of uncontrolable temptation at bay, as the newer part to Final Fantasy XI comes out.

The expansion should be released somewhere around late this year, maybe December or Early 2005. I'm not completely sure, but, whoever bought the first FFXI will desperately need to get this, or else, well they're weird.

after i saw this a while ago i tohught ff would start to become like everquest, with so many expansions that seem almost pointless to everyone but the truest of fans..but then i saw ff12 and got rid of these fears, as it is no longer online, and looks pretty kool, although not entriely original cuz it follows the world of ffta (dam square enix bunking things up..) but ithelia(or w/e) was pretty kool so ill definitly get it

I cant' believe people like this crap! I own XI,and already cancelled my account...i hate how the physics of the game work..the graphics arent really that good...theres way to many ppl playing(youll basically see people farming something in every area of the game) I was a scythe user although i started with sword-1 handed-but the graphics for cinema scenes look good on chains...and with the edition of the wyrm king(bahamut) as a fightable boss...im sure itll be tough to finish(evercrack players have it done in a week i bet)i also heard they r raising the level cap from lvl 75 to 100(or something higher) but those damn goblins seem to be to common in the FF world...i mean they are in the starting area of both bastok and sandoria(never been to windurst) and its a *gets bar of soap in mouth* to get to jeuno by yourself

Well, I have it too. I am a lvl 42 Dark Knight/Warrior, and Rank 5...
The lvling sux terribly actually, which is why im quiting. Also the pace is terrible. you work your @$$ off to get to the plot related stuff...then after you do a little of that its back to lvling...wtf.
It is boring me now, and many good games are coming. I guess it was okay for a time killer when I had less of a life.

Nah, Papa...The plot is actually decent. Its what kept me playing, but it really was not worth it. I worked my way up, to see some interesting stuff, meet some ppl, and go through an ok story (only some of it). Fun for a summer but not worth crap to me now. Do not get it guys. You will love it for a while, but the lvling system will get to you. I denyed this day would ever come. I used to fight the FFXI pessimists but now it drives me insane lol.

I find it enjoyable... when I have the time to play. Certainly, the leveling is very repetitive, and the battle system leaves you with very little input (at least for the melee classes), but the storyline holds me well enough.

WoW seems interesting though, and with many in my LS departing to play, I might find myself joining them. =P
Yeah, we all know the image in avatar is a fake PS3 logo. Nobody needs to tell me. >.>

The plot is long, expansive, endless, and branched...but sometimes it will not hold a player. I rather play a true RPG if I am playing for the plot. The plot and world histories are very nice. The battles and the menial chores and fetch quests and the endless traveling to get to it? Its the reason Im going to probably sell my character...You interested Drew? I can tell you the story so far...:P

Yep, but they make a point of not mentioning the main chars name, leaving you free to name him. ;)

Lesolithe: Yeah, well, thats always kind of weird not having a central character in the plot...Your character does not even speak in scenes...Actually, in the beginning scene in Sandoria, I tried talking to the Princes and their sister, just because I wanted to test the keyboard...and I did not understand an MMO yet. The other players were probably giving /tells to each other saying "that Sheenalda person is an idiot" (I play an elvaan chick, LOL)...LMAO, how sad :)

Pinkerton: For all of the PS2 FFs there are A+ voice overs, with the exception of FFXI (voiceovers in an MMO, too much work for SE I suppose...0.o)
And you played through FFVII already? Sry about reccommending it then in the PSX RPG section you posted ><
