These are somethings I've been looking into lately. I saw a video on Newgrounds the other day that turned out to be a video series called Spirit Science. I found it to be pretty interesting and inspirational so I started looking for more things to research. The guy who makes the Spirit Science video's talks about some stuff that seems pretty out there and while some of it seems hokey, I think there is some merit to the rest. If you wanna look it up and watch it than go for it. In the very least it's an interesting way to pass some time. Anyways the point of this topic is that I've been researching Meditation and Lucid Dreaming and while I haven't experienced any lucid dreams yet, I've had a few successful meditations that have proved to be rewarding and interesting experiences. If you're like me and have been interested in it but never really tried or knew where to start, I've got some helpful tips. Make sure you have at least and hour to yourself. It doesn't always take an hour, hell it took me twenty minutes last time! First off, start by changing into some comfortable clothes and setting a calming atmosphere. You don't have to go out of your way to light a hundred candles or incense but maybe dimming the lights and turning on a fan or something for background noise can be a definite mood booster. Sit somewhere were you can be comfortable and relax easily. I don't know if that whole cross your legs thing is necessary but I do it since I tend to sit on the floor and cross my legs anyways. Close your eyes and start focusing on individual parts or sections of your body, releasing as many and all stray thoughts that you can. I generally start from the feet and work my way up to the top of my head. I don't usually move onto a different part until I "feel" each section which may take a few minutes to do but it's ok because it's all a part of the processes and really, you shouldn't rush this. Once you've made your way to the top, start counting backward from one hundred. Don't think about anything else, just focus on counting. You may have to visualize the numbers in your head as your counting. It helps keep stray thoughts away, and if a stray thought wanders in, ignore it and keep counting. Once you reach zero, start at thirty and count backwards to zero again. If at anytime you feel yourself drifting away or whatever it is you feel that's fine. Just let it come and run it's course. You don't need to keep counting and chances are you'll have forgotten about it anyway. And that's all! That's what I do anyways and it works for me. The main thing when going into this though is to not expect anything to happen whether it does or not, just don't expect it to. You might have to do it several times before you see any mind blowing results or it may just be a good way for you to stop, and chill out for awhile without anything from our hectic lives weigh you down. |

I've been meaning to do both of these, and now that school's over I may actually have time for it. This might help with the Lucid Dreaming aspect. http://www.cracked.com/funny-5213-lucid-dreaming/ |
| It's like that philosophical question; if a tree falls in the forest and I'm not there, and it makes a sound, but I don't hear it, but someone records it and plays it to me at the dinner party, does that mean I'm still in the forest? | |

I have tried meditation before, but my mind wanders and I cannot seem to focus it on one thing. |

Haven't made too much head way on the meditation front as I've been busy fitting a regular workout into my schedule as well as friends and video games lol but as far as lucid dreaming goes, I've picked up some reading material and started keeping a dream journal which is something I used to do anyways (all my good story ideas come from muh dreams) |
