yeh, i can get a copy of the DVD made probably no hassle. My drummer has a DVD writer drive and he's always copying stuff for me!

If anyone wants a copy or a trade let me know and we'll work it out. That's probably the best way..

So Darren, do you have a DVDR seperate?? cos your idea would be perfect. Maybe i need to buy one.
I got a video from Mayday/Erik and it's got so much good stuff on it, it'd be amazing on DVD. Has anyone seen the footage from MTV of UKJ up in that old mansion creating the Menace album? it's so damn cool.

Although, thinking about it. If you did a straight up copy onto DVD from VCR, how would you go about creating a kick ass menu screen?

what are you thinking of doing dd? uploading them on the net/ making VCD's?

if your thinking about VCD's maybe you guys should just trade DVDs? havnt most people got DVD writers on their comps now? Its just so much better quality you know.

Aha, that's neat. I thought you went VCR -> comp -> DVD. Ripping DVD's with computer only is a bitch sometimes depending on the DVD's.

Its possible to do that but I think you loose too much quality, I always like to use the least amount of equiptement/paths possible. So scart from 8 head VCR straight to DVD seperate recorder is the best method I think to get your digital master, and from then on you can do what you like with that DVD, copy, make mpegs whatever.

Uploading on the net, so that people can get them easily and do what they wanna do with them VCD, DVD or whatever.

Don't think most people got DVD burners, of those I know there's like 3 of 5 that got a DVD reader and 1 of 5 with a burner.

Don't see why going VCR -> comp -> DVD would loose quality. If you got the files on your computer you could raise/lower volume, edit colours and stuff. If the VCR hits the computer or DVD first doesn't mather, since it's in digital form either way = no quality loss (unless you compress the f*ck out of it to save harddrive space)

If I get a copy or the *.vob files I can rip 'em into mpeg's and put them online.

dirty dog:

Oh I see what you mean, sorry. Ive never ripped VCR to comp, I always pressumed it would go through some programme that would compress it or whatever to create files...

Kip:

Yeah, your video is what I have already ripped to DVD from Pauls copy. Paul also has a copy on DVD. I actually thought he was gonna be making them available on his site in some way but I have no idea.

I ripped all that footage plus the other UKJ dvd thats in circulation and that made around 4 hours of footage I think, maybe 3:30 hours?

Seems a shame to go through all the hasstle of ripping it again but unfortunately I cant make further copies of my copy since I dont have a DVD writer on my comp, only a stand alone one in my room...

Also, if you wanna buy a stand alone DVD writter get Phillips as they can create DVD+R's and DVD-R's so you can make copies that will play on anyones machine... you just need to find out what format they want first.

You could probably expect to get a Phillips one for around £150 if you shop around, maybe online.

But as I said, a standalone DVD writter is only really good for making the original copy from the VCR, to create many duplicates you are much better off getting a computer DVD writter drive and getting a freind to do the original rip from VCR, or do it the way Dirty Dog said.

DVD stand alone writters are SHIT at making menus, they are just standard with a thumbnail for each chapter. On a computer you can make kick ass menus etc but you'll need the right software.

Shit man! you need to get a DVD writer on your PC and start burning copies!! i.e, one for me!
As soon as you can find a way to copy it let me know, in fact, we can do a trade for some original Medication photos. Mmm...UKJ circa '95...DVD...

Thinking about it, aren't you pretty damn good with design? i assume you've made a kick ass menu. If you haven't, do it, it would be fuckin ace, i know it!

Hey Kip

Err yeah, I suppose if you like my website designs I suppose Im pretty good at design. But thats just basically making graphics...

I could look into making a copies, my girl has a comp dvd burner and I suppose making a menu wouldnt be hard with the right software.

I dont have much time these days and litterally no money, maybe it would be easier if I just sent you a copy of what I have and let you do whatever you like, I could send you some graphic ideas if you want.

you should send something to Paul or Erik or whoever was responsible for making this stuff, all I did was rip it, Id feel like an asshole if I took something for it.

Is it possible you could send me two blank dvd's? Im poor as fuck right now... Just find out if you want DVD+R's or DVD-R's.

Alternativly you could always contact Paul to copy them if you want, he may be able to do it a bit quicker/easily...

yes it was a question for you. 4 gigs is great.
I have yet to get 8 gigs on a dvd yet, i think that a double layer DvD recorder is needed. ( I am sorry I keep forgeting you use a stand-alone recorder)
I use my pc to make DvD's. :beta:

I have 2 DVD burners [Pc]
8 dvd roms players
6 Pc's for friends and visitors...[ gaming]

plus I do complete DvD editing home movies/pictures with a few software titles.
I am willing to splice a DvD together for fun if i can get the Avi's, mpeg's, divx media files from users here. Oh and i do have blanks, i buy bulk.

just let me know.

I'm not playing around here, I know what i am doing. i have the equiptment as well. I have a g-force 5950 video card. this card was created for two reasons; playing games and video editing [the output to tv is awsome as well ].
this card runs the new 64-phase video scaler along with intergraded tv encoder of recording of 1024 x 768 (TIVO anyone ?) and not a software decoder as many have, but a fully intergrated hardware mpeg-2 decoder oh and some other features i have yet to try or understand. well in a nutshell it works great. :applose:

btw did i mention i do have time. I just need the media to put on DvD. I will check back with the forum from time to time with updates. i did however get access to the ukj ftp. have yet to log in. but i will start there.
