Ok, I have an average quality video of "Cats In The Cradle" and some of the scenes/imagery are a little confusing, as to who's who and such. Maybe it's just me but this is roughly what I can make out.... INTRO: Video Title! "Cats In The Cradle, Ugly Kid Joe" A little kid looking at the camera and what appears to be a bride and groom doll, representing his parents? Then the kid falling on the floor laughing. VERSE: Shadow Whit and the chin of a man smiling, obviously happy cos he's got a kid cos you see this little baby crying... "Planes to catch, bills to pay" You see the kid playing with a toy aeroplane, then holding onto the back of something, standing up. "He was talking 'fore I knew it" You see a baby and a hanging phone. Talking to the father who is away at work? CHORUS: Trees and the father and son walking out at sunset. The father then puts the kid against the tree and paints around his figure. VERSE: After chorus. The father and son walking away from the tree, the son glancing back. Then, you see a car door close and the son, who is now 10, running after his dad who's just gotten into the car. "Thanks for the ball dad, c'mon let's play". He throws the ball at the car as the car is leaving. The kid is looking sad, looking at the ground and then walks off with the ball following his heels. He then picks up the ball. CHORUS: The dog taking the headdress off the kid and the car driving away with the son following, standing in his old man's shoes. You then see the kid watching the car go and then walking back leaving the shoes on the drive. VERSE: A birthday cake with candles being blown out. 10 or so candles I think. We then see the tree with the paint on. The father is then sitting reading the paper and he gives the car keys to his son. You see the dad with his head in hands realising he's messed up. CHORUS: We then see another kid (assuming this is the kid's kids) being lifted into a car and placed at the steering wheel and he and his dad drive. They then stop and you see them looking out the car at one of the back tires. Then there's the kid again with the bride and groom dolls, looking quite... like "Bla!" INTERLUDE: The father and son get out the car. There's then a flower thing followed by a scary pig and the trees again, followed by the scary pig. We then see the father running with son. VERSE: A man is fishing leaves out of his pool, presumably the original dad at the start. "I'd like to see you if you don't mind", we see the now grown-up son, on the phone holding one kid, and another clinging to his leg. Then, what appears to be film fromthe family camera shows the now grown-up son as a kid throwing a phone in the water, dog in shot. The father and son are then looking at the tyre. CHORUS: Sunset at the trees again. The grandfather looks up around the trees and walks over to a familiar tree. He crouches down and pulls the bark off. We see him looking at the tree and a memory of his son. He then stands up and sees the outline has grown with the tree. He then leans against the tree and the height is his. |

Daddy doesn't have time to spend his time with his child. (20-30 years timejump) Then the child doesn't have time to spend his time with his dad. Dad regrets he choosed career instead of time with his son. That's my interpretation. And if I go deeper: Don't waste your time, you'll miss it when you get older. |
