I came across something interesting on the net.

Dave Fortman has recently produced an album by the band Atomship, one of their songs also appears on the Punisher soundtrack. Anyway, i noticed that the bass player for the album according to ubl.artistdirect.com is a certain Cordell Crockett! How cool is that?!
He's not a member of the band as they are pretty much a 3 piece and i guess Cordell was a session bassist.

Anyway, what's weirder, is they have a track on the album called 'Whitfield'.
How bizarre is that?

I checked out the lyrics to 'Whitfield' on their website and it doesn't mean much it appears. They have MP3 snippets also of the track, but they've accidently put the song 'Friends' when you click it instead. I just wondered if maybe Whit was on it.. that would be pretty cool..

Great! Thanks for posting that....
Cordell seems to be in (or play with) a lot of bands... I wonder what's up with Bitterthings? and Dark32...

I get the impression whenever Dave needs a bassist for one his projects/productions he drafts in Cordell.

It's cool that Cordell works with Dave, i like to see UKJ's legacy extend around each others talents, it's good to see. Whit only seems to be alongside Shannon (photo wise and that ACDC France tribute gig which i still know jack shit about!), which is a shame, i'd like him to work with Dave again. On what? fuck knows.. but i'd be happy..

So is anyone intrigued by this song 'Whitfield', it's purely a name so what else can it mean. And with Cordell playing bass on it and Dave producing surely they must've thought something... it's all pretty bizarre in my head!

Maybe they were still keeping Whit in mind while they made the song. But that is pretty bizarre. Hopefully they will get back together again someday. :D

From OWW's Whit interview in 2001:
Quote:

paul - Dave's ( dave fortman ukj guitarist ) doing well, producing making money with phil anselmo? Any chance he might produce any medication?

whit - no fuckin way, we're done..i love dave, he's doing fuckin great, fuckin' crowbar - that's great. But we've done our time together. Being in a band is far more than being married to somebody..
I never say never, but we need to get our shit done.

oh poo poo platter! :( there's a bloody place in mississippi called Whitfield! Which certainly makes a lot more sense...

Still It's a lot of odd circumstance going on there which is cool!

Yeh that ACDC thing, it was that French Hard Rock awards where ACDC got in the hall of fame in 2001 or 2002 i think, and they had a bunch of musicians playing ACDC songs for the crowd and Whit sang a couple with Shannon drumming. Can't remember where i heard about it, but i'd fuckin love to see or hear footage of that!! i know Whit mentioned it in an interview in th UK Powerplay magazine..

That's a little confusing. I just checked: AC/DC were inducted into the Hall of Fame on March 10th 2003, and the ceremony took place at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. They were the only band who played live that night (6 songs) and were joined by Steven Tyler on You Shook Me All Night Long.

But I remember that Medication played (with Shannon) at the Hard Rock Awards in Paris in March 2002. I read on the homepage of the mag then (it's down now) that they would perform 2 songs. Brice of Erik's Med board wrote that he had seen the show in TV, but he didn't mention anything of an AC/DC song. I asked him if he had recorded the show, and he said no, but you couldn't see the band well anyway (because of the "lights" or the missing light?, whatever).

Sometimes I'm surprised myself that I find old posts again, although they had nothing to do with the thread title...

OK. So I got this PowerPlay mag finally after I was searching for it for 3 years... Cost me $25 (the most expensive mag I ever bought) and a lot of troubles (I had to give the seller negative feedback at first before he sent it finally, 11 weeks after I had won it).

So the issue with the AC/DC song at the French awards:

Whit: "I've never met AC/DC, but we're giving them an award in Paris for the Hard Rock Music awards. We're playing two songs off the EP, and me and Shannon are playing an AC/DC song with some other musicians, though I'm not sure who they're going to be."

But I'm not sure if AC/DC actually got an award then...
