We run a Tucker/Cummins and have run Rotella T 10w30 for years. Looking at switching to Rotella T6 5w40 full synthetic. Central Wisconsin for me, it gets cold but not Northern Ontario cold. What do you have? What do you run in it? Where are you located?

We have a Prinoth, a Bombardier and a McCormick and have run Delvac for as many years as I can remember. We have never had any kind of failure related to oil.
Have been grooming since 1978 have covered more than 100,000 miles of snowmobile trail.

We run Rotella also but, 15w-40. Why do you use 10-30? i could see it if you didn't plug in and had to do all cold starts but, it doesn't provide the protection of thicker viscosity oil. Also, we use Wix or Fleetgard filters.

Trailboss77, What weight Delvac do you guys run? We were just considering switching to a full synthetic but for the amount of hours we run in a season I don't know if it pays.

We run Mobil 10w30 in our grooming equipment. We have run Mobil 10w30 for years at work in all our construction equipment and have loaders and other equipment with 20,000 plus hours on the engines with no failures. Its very important to have a good oil sample program and changing your oil we go 250 hours between changes also.

When we had a Tucker we ran Rotella 15w40 & Fleetguard filters with no problems. We now have a New Holland tractor and use Case/New Holland oil [10w40] and CNH filters. We also use the same oil in our Case tracked skidsteer. We still use Rotella oil and Fleetguard filters in our 2006 International 4300 dump truck. Our equipment sleeps inside , so cold starting is not a concern.

We run 10W30 Delvac. Our machines are plugged in all the time unless one is in the heated shed so cold start is not an issue for us.

I believe the 5w-40 synthetic rotella is the best oil you can use. I know Delvac and others also make same thing. In my opinion it would give you good flow for cold starts, but also offer good protection at full temperature.

We run the first season on the factory oil then switch to the cummins valvoline 5w40 syn as we don't always have it plugged in if cold. Just easier on everything to start.

Been doing this in our tier 3 08, 11 and we will on our tier 4i 13 when we get it this spring when it's time. We ran synthetic 15-40 in our 01 and 05 when we had those.

Don't do it early, make sure you get a good 300-500 hours before switching.
