We are looking at a PB150D for our club and would like to hear some input, we have a 8' Arrowhead Ultra drag and have demoed a 2012 Prinoth Trooper (148Hp) for a week to help us get our trails cut and packed in. We currently groom with a TSA130 New Holland tractor with only rubber tires and no chains. We have struggled with this setup for years, anytime we get a heavy storm/blizzard we are crippled and cannot groom for weeks. The Trooper really opened our eyes as to what we could do with a twin track unit with a blade, we have got non-stop compliments on our trails and have been told they have NEVER been this good. The things that are so great with a tracked unit is, being able to groom a ditch into a trail, clearing road crossings and drifts, and being able to back out of a stuck. It used a little more fuel then our tractor but would get more done in less time, so I believe its a wash. Looking for any red flags on this PB150D, I know where it has been and what it has done its whole life, it has never pulled a drag and was used as a XC groomer and a snow removal cat ONLY. We look at it as a cheap alternative to the trooper and seems to be a mirror image of the trooper as far as size, power, and controls. How hard are the parts to get incase of a break down?? Is the any normal issues with these machines? What can we expect for yearly maintenance cost (75-150hrs per year)? Thanks Kyle Edited by stopdropanroll, Jan 3 2013, 01:32 PM.

Biggest weak point of the 150 is it's VM engine, solid motor, but parts and service are tough. Hydrostatic is easy, and the suspension, and most other chassis parts are the same as the 160 so PB usually has all of what you need in stock. Keep on top of the engine, do NOT overheat it, and it should last for years. |

We have a 150D, parts are available but we are currently waiting for the lever off the wiper motor to come from germany, we have had to call Reno on occasion to get the parts we need and have been told by our local dealer that there are very few of these machines around. Some were made with a two belt alternator, ours has one belt and sometimes squealls when everything is turned on even with the belt very tight. We pull a 8'wide seven blade MM and it does a very good job but it is really slow compared to our Tucker or PB260, fuel usage 2-3 GPH for the 150 vs 5-6 GPH on the 260. All of our tires have been filled as flat tires were way to common, ours has the aluminum grousers and no added ice picks and has been known to have trouble climbing icey hills. Keep that turbo singing and go straight and it will climb, but soon as you turn you lose traction. |

I'm curious Sprocket what your fuel consumption is on your PB260D is. I'm burning 8-10gph pulling a MM 18-10 and a full load of snow in the blade. |

stopdropanroll, Maybe not an option, but have you considered putting a track system on your tractor? A few of them out there. |

Problem is we lease it, and our budget is small. We are looking for a unit as a stepping stone to get to a late model groomer at some point. |

How much are you looking to spend? I will be listing our Tucker on here quite soon. I'm thinking it will be in the high $20's w/o drag. We have a tractor, Tucker and 2-twin tracks. Call me and we can discuss the pos. & neg. of them all so you can make an informed decision. -Steve. 608 381 4851. |

We voted to move forward and purchase this machine in last nights meeting, that 8 years of effort to get our club into owning a sno-cat. |
