We are currently looking at a BR 275 with 66" tracks. These tracks make it too wide for a couple of bridges we have to deal with so the total width will need to be reduced about 19" (9 1/2" per side) to end up with a total width of 12 feet. Hope this doesn't sound stupid but is this a simple matter of lopping of the necessary 9 1/2" on each track with a reciprocating saw or similar or is it a big deal with readjusting the spacing between all the belts. I don't know the width of the outside belt to know what the remaining belt width would be after removing 9 1/2". I have seen numerous snowcat adds that indicate that the tracks have been cut back so it seems to be a somewhat routine thing to do. |

Just go and cut off the outer 5 inch belt right at the outside of the second 5 inch belt, I do many like that for our local snowmoble clubs there dose not seem to be any trouble doing it this way. I use a plasma cutter to cut the crosslinks, i have seen others use a gas powerd cutoff saw . I hope you do not have railings on the bridge because the blade wings are at 13 feet 8 inchs. |

Thanks for the quick reply! I was afraid that it was going to be a real labor intensive procedure but the method you describe is much simpler than I was expecting. The bridges do have low rails but the BR 350 that crosses now can lift the blade high enough to clear them. Edited by gezjock, Jan 1 2013, 11:48 PM.
