Another question from the hydrostatic newbie. Are you guys running your new hydro fluid through a filter cart before it enters the reservoir? I've heard some people doing this, and just wondering if it's the standard or not. |

It is a good idea. Best to find out what the mfg recommends for a iso cleanliness and find out what the new oil is. Normally when you have servos, new oil out of the container is not clean enough. |

The company, that I worked for, had hydraulic equipment that ran on oil with 3 micron or less. We had to prefilter any oil that was added. The oil supplier said they guaranteed the cleanness of the oil but not the container the oil came in. |

Thanks. I'm renting a filter cart for a reasonable daily rate. |

It is best to filter all oil sources no matter what but especially if you are getting it from a metal bulk container or any bulk application. Just never hurts to be protective. If you get it from a sealed jug or pail and use it all, than it's not as critical but safe is better than sorry when dealing with hydro machines. |

Yeah, everything I've read this past week points to that conclusion. Thanks again. |
