1985 PB270D; Heated Windshield

Looking for some info. New club purchased 1985 PB270D and the heated windshield doesn't work. We traced it back to a bad relay / timer. Pisten Bully wants 200.00+ for a new one, we had heard these could be crossed over to a generic relay available through Napa. Anyone heard of this or have any info? The Pisten Bully part number is: 7.735.143.000

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

That should be a generic relay. I own a late 80s 270 and lost the work lights last winter. The relay under the passenger floor, which I'm guessing is where the windshield relay is, was generic and available from napa.

Still working on this with no luck. The problem with the windshield relay is it has a built in timer.

Auto rear window heater or heated seat relays have built in timers also, NAPA should be able to fix you up.

Can you post more info ? Any other numbers or brand names on the relay? Can you take pictures of it and post on here?

If you go to Google and then click on "images" at the top, then type in "rear window defroster relay timer" you'll see there are gobs of them. With enough research, you might find a match somewhere, maybe even through one of the electronics catalogs such as www.digikey.com/

OK guys. attached is a pic of the relay I am after.
. Looking at the wiring diagram and many hours scratching my head ,here is how it is wired.

Terminal 15 = 24v switched
Terminal 30 = 24v constant
Terminal 31 = Ground
Terminal E = 24v trigger from switch
Terminal 87 = out to the windshield element

Best I can tell the way this operates is by hitting the switch in the dash (which is a momentary on type switch from the factory) send a "trigger" to the relay terminal E to start the timer

Doing some research on-line I found Hella makes a 24v adjustable timer : Click

Problem I have is the identification on the Terminals. Can 87A be used as my trigger in from the switch?

Now they also produce in 2 ways:
Delay on Release meaning :Input voltage must be supplied continuously to timer. Actuation of
control circuit causes relay contacts to transfer immediately. Time Delay starts when control circuit is released.
The relay remains energized for the duration of the time delay, then de-energization.
Also called: Delay-On-Break, Off-Delay, Delay-On-Dropout, Delay-On-Energization.
OR
Delay on Operate meaning: Application of the input voltage starts the time delay. At completion of
the time delay, the relay contacts transfer.
Also called: Delay-On-Make, On-Delay,Delay-On-Pickup.
