We've been planning on adding weight to the front of our Skandic 800 SWT but haven't gotten around to it yet. Attached are 3 different options we've looked at. What have you done for weights, how much weight total? Any likes/dislikes about how you have it attached? Thanks Edited by semntrails, Jan 28 2010, 04:21 PM.

We built our own which accommodates standard weights, same as we use on our implements. We do this because sometimes we find we have to much weigh on our Ginsu, drag or roller and like to ditch it. That way we can simply transferred it from one point to another. That goes in reverse as well. That is we can get into the field and find we need more with on the roller or whatever we got, and just steal if off the front of a sled. Attached is three photos. |

Even though we use the Rhino horns with weight plates on the front, I want to remind you this system is very dangerous if you are grooming a ski trail with on coming skier traffic. |

semntrails, I tied two 10# barbel weights to the front of the SWT but on the inside, under the hood. That way they cant drag or catch on anything (and I thought it looked better too). I didn't think the slight difference in position would make much difference in effect. I haven't changed them on the trail so accessibility isn't an issue. |

I strapped a 20# dumbbell onto each ski leg. It was a simple way to add weight w/out doing any mods. to the sled. Not sure if it makes a difference whether the weight is on the chassis or on the skis. Seems like it would all eventually transfer down to the skis. The weights along with the suspension adjustments have made a big improvement in steering this beast. |
