Today started out nice... Hooked up the Ginzu, freshened the trails up nice, tracks came out fairly well, gorgeous day (4F when I started, upper 20's and sunny when I skied after lunch). Unfortunately between when I groomed, and when I came back to ski 10 senior citizen snowshoers appeared. Unfortunately the trail did NOT look like the images below when I got back in there. Sigh. At least I took some pictures before hand:) We're expecting 2-4" of RAIN the next 48 hours.... then single digits. It will be interesting. The Alpine (I) is my '86. The Alpine II is in the shop (leaking chain case, waiting for one more gasket to appear). |

We're getting the rainy-foggy stuff now-It'll arrive in NY in a day I'm afraid. It's been melty now for +24 hrs, so we need to make it thru one more day, then-boiler plate to groom I'm sure. Hopefully, there will still be a little "tooth" left on the trail so cutting it up won't be too hard. Sure wish our compaction/leveling drag were done=I'd love to try that out. Time Sunday for the G2 and Ginzu to do their thing.Nice photos and beauty tracks there!!!! |

Thanks couchsachraga for posting tail photos. I always enjoying seeing other peoples trails, tracks, equipment and their woods. Do you have skaters using the middle?? Seems like you left lots of space between the tracks if not. Gee you have a "classic" Ginsu like we do.

Thanks for the kind comments! We're a multi-use trail system, but I try to set double track (one on each side) where I can. Not ideal, as the trails really aren't wide enough, but we have more classical folks than skaters most of the time (though it varies greatly by day...). I used to be more of a skate skier (sissy skier so Arly understands what I'm talking about ), but these days I classical more, mostly as when I'm in there I have my 9 month old daughter in her pack on my back:)Re: The attached images: 1) Yes, I AM waiting for neon to come back... 2) Yes, she IS too cute |

Great pics thanks for sharing. As you know my trails are about 10 miles away as the crow flies. Yes lets hope the rains today don't kill everything. I'm hosting a huge NYSSRA race on 2/14/10. Should be plenty of time to get the trails looking sweet again. I like the pic of the groomed trail and the trail used by snowshoers breaking off to the right. Such a contrast in usage. I'm getting better at dealing with snowshoers coming to my trails and tearing them up. I can't be there all the time and if they ignore the signs and snowshoe on the trails there isn't much I can do. My secret weapon is to get a Ginzu next season. With one pass their tracks will be gone....ha ha! |

Unfortunately it's all "multiuse" - the images are one pass done, one about to be done:) Ginzu does to a great quick job of it (even my "old school" one that is almost 10 years old!). We should try and get the trail plane over to your place later this week so you can create something to work with out of whatever is left (assuming enough base). Looks like it will cool down tonight, so hopefully we won't have lost too much yet... but I'm sure it will be rather solid. If that doesn't work, and we don't get more snow, we'll get the Ginzu over there too for your race. I hope to have the Alpine II back for this weekend.... |

Where you live/ski looks quite pretty. Today it is raining. *sigh*. It's been raining since last night and the temperature has been above freezing since 10pm-ish. Double *sigh* btw, I showed my neighbor our groomed field and groomer, he'd like me to groom on his property. Our trail system may grow 2x or more! ![]() My other neighbor, abuts first neighbor, also said we're welcomed to groom/ski on his property. Soooooooooooooo ... looks like our trail system may be growing ... once we get snow and the snow-berm from the snowplow is knocked out by my first neighbor - it's blocking the entrance to his field. Cheers, -pablo |
