I'm interested in Jaca Renovator. I like the simplicity of this xc groomer compared to the weight and set up of the G2 and Ginzo. Anyone here work with one or know of aused one. I contacted the company in Europe and they said the liabilty cost is out of site for them to distribute here. |

As I am from the homeland of JACA, JACA was the first machine we was looking at when my club started looking at a new groomer some years ago. We studied JACA, Tiddtech G2, Yellowstone and some other groomers. A neighbor club have a JACA and it makes very nice surface, but at the end we did took a chance and choosed a Tiddtech G2. Why then? Very soon we found out that we wanted a tracksetter on our groomer, and then JACA was out of the discussion. JACA was also very expensiv at that time compared with import from US becouse of the low dollar rate. When I have showed the G2 in Sweden a lot of people have thougt that it grooms better then their JACAs. The JACA does not work very well in deep snow, and even if it is small it is heavy to pull. Most clubs here have old Aktiv Grizzly or Ockelbo 8000 sleeds (almost the same as a SkiDoo Alpine) anyway and should not have any problems pulling a G2 or Ginzu. So here JACA is not the choise becouse it is light weight, it is the only groomer on the market over here. Tiddtech is sold in Finland and Yellowstone in Norway, som maybe one day big groomers get more common here to. |

Hi Doug, Our club used a Jaca for about 5 years. It lays out a nice skate surface in new snow or lightly packed snow. It really struggles with crusty snow. The cutting blade faces forward and is adjustable but if you went a little too deep you ended up with big chunks of snow/crust. You had to be really patient and just skim the surface. We did hook up a homemade track setter to it by attaching it to the bar running across the rear of the Jaca. It worked great. We now have a Ginzu which does a way better job on the crust. We gave the Jaca to another local club so they could set some skating trails. We had a local distributor in our area(Eastern Canada) so that's how we got ours. I don't know if he still sells them or not? |
