Maine is a big state. When you say "northern" do you mean the County, or western maine (Eustis, Rangley, Stratton, etc...), or up towards Greenville? I'm assuming you'll be on sleds that time of year, too... or skis or snowshoes.... |

We are starting out in a town just east of Errol, NH. We are riding as far north as we can go. We are going to do a big loop. We are figuring on it being about 1200 miles to just get where we gotta go. Hoping to top 1500. I know that the locals of any area know of some pretty sweet spots, i could show people some cool stuff in my area. I am supposed to b getting an itineary of our trip so i will have abetter idea where we are gona be and when. |

Wear your woolies. You'll love it up here riding. I'm located just on the southern end of the County. A site you might want to visit is www.sledmaine.com A BB with serious sledheads. Should have a good ride all around. If it was up to me, I'd wait until mid to late Feb. Not uncommon to get a week of -30, sometimes -40 weather at night, than get into a high of zero or +10 in the daylight. I generally don't plan on riding up here until late Feb. |

The County is top notch but there's a lot of riding else where. I usually start out in western Maine (Madison) as it's pretty close and they get snow fairly early. Then when riding starts here (Mid-Coast Maine) I do the bulk of it around home although it's small trails and snow can be spotty some years it's fun. Then I hit the County, once or twice a year. My wife is from Caribou so we just go up and stay at her folks place. It's another world really, I love it up there. If you do go up there enjoy your self and stay safe. January can be cold (I was up there last year cutting ice in the middle of North Maine Woods and we set a record for a low, -40 something, the outhouses were interesting), just bring layers and you will be fine. Back Ten years ago or so, my buddies I and would travel from sourthern NH to Presque Isle every other weekend for couple of years in a row. Exactly 338.6 miles from the house, and I could tell you about every bump in the road. Anyway we always stayed at Keddys just as you enter town. Its now called Caribou Inn and covention center. Can not go wrong with the County. The Four Seasons in Portage to the bar in Fort Kent, (Bee Jays), and one of my favorite spots to hit, The Lake View resturant in Saint Agatha. The trails in the County are alway flat and fast!! Call Kathy at the parks and recs center in Caribou, and she will be more than helpfull. |

Keddys is now Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center. The Caribou Inn and Convention Center is, remarkably enough, in Caribou! The are owned by the same company.

Yep, know the place well. Thought I was going to have to climb the stairs 4x4 heading back to the room at 1am. Fun place on a Thursday night for sure. |

That was you, no way! I was the guy right behind you being draged by both arms on my back by two of my friends. One year we were running out of the pool outside, then running back in jumping into the pool. Ya lots of memories with this place.

Sure am glad nobody takes photos up there. There must be 4 girls to one guy there on certain nights. And buying them Yager bombs seems to go over pretty well. We were so bad one night we rode about 50 miles the next day. |
