I just wanted to add this picture to show our latest release. Perfect for x-trail maintenance. I sold this unit to a local club.

Looks like a nice unit!

What is the ballpark price on the track conversion for that sized tractor?

I'm guessing 30k....

That's (obviously) significantly less than I thought.

Not much more than a Grizzly with tracks (of course, you need to have the tractor already, obviously).

I pull a Tidd Tech med and small G2 with a skidoo SWT

I was thinking of getting a grizzly for off season work since our old 1990 ATV in bad shape.

After seeing posts here on the grizzley for grooming i was going to get tracks for it possibliy too for grooming? Does anyone know ball park price for tracks on grizzley.

Also i did not know you could get tracks for a Kubota B3030, i have one with hoe/Fel/Rotary cutter which i also have and do summer work on trail with it.

Do you think the Kubota would be better than the grizzley for grooming? I know would be warmer if had cab but would it be better in deep snow or pulling or any comments from anyone if they had a choice and had a grizzley and kubota, which would it be better to use for grooming?

I would go with the Grizzly with power steering.

I currently use a Yamaha VK Pro pulling a small G2 from TiddTech. I have tried a tracked ATV (Grizzly without power steering), and a tracked UTV (Polaris Ranger). I liked the tracked ATV much better. And I think the tracked UTV is a useful comparison to a tracked tractor. The ATV had all the pulling power I needed and more. It gave me the rear site lines that I wanted because I am always adjusting the G2 actuators and I want to see what is going on back there. The UTV was comfortable with a cab, heater, and radio, but even with some mirrors and the tailgate off I did not have good site lines to the teeth and what was really going on. I did a much better grooming job with the ATV. And the track kit with the UTV was not well matched and I sank in a lot and had a couple days of cleanup afterwards with my snowmobile and the G2.

Now consider the tractor, is the track kit matched well to the weight of the tractor so your ground pressure is comparable to your current setup? What is the visibility to the rear? It may be excellent with that high seat and lots of glass out back, but you are farther away from the teeth of the G2 where all the action is happening. Can you see what is going on down there?

What do you gain from the tractor because the track kit is $13 compared to $3.5K for an ATV track kit. Probably lots more pulling power. But you also have a bigger monster to get unstuck and it will happen sometime. How strong is your come-along?

With that added pulling power you might be able to pull a bigger implement. For XC skiing that might mean moving up to the super large Ginzu, so the tractor is sort of like owning one of those $25K Alpina Sherpas. Most of the groomers I talk to are settling in to two pass grooming. With your medium G2 with 2 passes you can renovate 12 feet of trail, with the outside flaps you can comb out an even wider trail. Now if you have 18 foot wide trails maybe a bigger groomer keeps you at 2 passes instead of having to do 3 with the G2, or if you have 10 foot wide trails maybe a big groomer keeps you at 1 pass instead of 2 with the G2. You already own the G2s, if you consider the tractor tracks do you also want to consider the cost of upgrading your groomer to get any advantage out of the tractor it might provide?

Right now there are multiple XC ski groomers who have switched to tracked ATVs and the reports are positive. Just read all the glowing reports in this forum about the Grizzly 700 with power steering.

We have a tracked UTV, in our snow conditions it is very limited. I also have access to 1 more UTV and 2 ATV's w/tracks. Once we leave a groomed base we're done. Knee deep snow and we're stuck.

I highly recommend you drive/demo a similar unit in snow conditions like yours. Regardless if it's an atv, utv, tractor, or even a snowcat for that matter. I personally fell that once you exceed 1.5-2 psi ground pressure(finished, ready to groom, including implements) your pushing it as far as performance goes. Might work, might not.

Our Utv is in excess of 2 psi. The tracks leave a memory that you can feel even though you can't see the track marks. Skaters hate it. It sinks about 2" into the trail regardless if it's our tilled ski trails or mogal master done sled trails. It's great early season, before we can even get sleds on it, and it's got a blade, very handy machine. It can go through fairly deep NEW snow when there's a HARD BASE under it. We have dry, cold, light, fluffy snow, hrs/days later it's all sugar snow.

Try one somehow, in your conditions, before you spend money.

Cab, PTO, reliability of Kubota products, torque, comfort. No modification and come back to tires easily. Incredible flotaison (under 2psi.) and most of all, can do mowing, plowing, multitude of implements and work possible... Can use it in dead season for what ever the reason.

Trust me, I demoed many vehicles on tracks and there is no comparison between ATV or UTV on tracks vs this.

A full set of tracks for a Yamaha Grizzly 700 is about $2500.

Total cost w/ ATV is @ $10K which is the same as a 800 Skidoo SWT.
