As some of you may note, we’re looked at getting a ATV then adding tracks to it for grooming purposes. Camoplast seems to be the favored tracks so we’ve been investigating the 4S and UTV tracks kits made by them. I just got off the phone with the distributer for these and he had lots of interesting information concerning the difference in the various tracks from Campoplast. The 4S is a relatively new system designed for the sport market so they are lighter in weight, and in construction plus they are for all season use so they have a smaller footprint. The UTV Standard tracks have been around for more than 15 years and used by the heavy needs ATV industry, in fact there name means Utility Tracked Veichals. So there frames and tracks all weight more because they got more material in them, (he said the tracks are more HD type) the ride will not be as good but they will outlast the 4S and have greater flotation in snow because there longer and designed differently for snow use.. The standards drive sprockets are also designed and constructed for heavy pulling. As you might guess he recommends the UTV Standard track system for heavy work like grooming.. Thought you might like to know this. Edited by arly, Jan 20 2009, 10:03 PM.
