Reminds me of a few weeks ago when I went on my little rescue mission with the BR160 to pull the Lamtrac and drag out of a 3' deep creek. On our way back, it was already dark when I got to this narrow, twisty, hilly part of the trail. So I'm coming along around a sharp corner down a short hill onto a bit of a sidehill zippin right along. Keep in mind now that I'm used to running the Lamtrac with an 8 ft blade on the front. The BR is a bit wider and has a 10 ft blade. For years, I had been cursing this one tree that was kinda tight to get around with the Lamtrac and 8 ft drag. Well, wouldn't you know it, I come cruisin around that corner and the blade hooked that tree and whipped the machine around sideways....... ...............the tree went crashing to the ground. It was about a 40-50 ft tall poplar with a 10 inch base. Luckily, nothing broke. The tree fell right off the trail so I didn't have to worry about it. Oh well, serves me right for not gettin my lazy butt out of the groomer years ago to cut it. |

there are a few trees along a county road here. i called my boss and asked him what would happen if they fell over dead one day. "they're weeds in a county right of way." (he's the county weed guy in the summer.) then he said "if you don't like my anwer, call Jerry. (head of road department, and ex logger.) He'll tell you the only good tree is on a logging truck headed for the mill." gotta love the bosses with my best interests in mind. |

Good to hear. Always looking for pointers. I work at a hydraulic shop, and you would not believe the destroyed cylinders people bring in. A lot of people use too small of equipment or cheap parts when the machine was built. |
