Since it was blue, if it's twin track and twin ski, sounds like an Alpina Sherpa.... |

If you find it again, please post it here. There are a number of us that really like old twin tracks...and by the sounds of it i haven't heard of the one you saw yet. for a twin track, single ski in the NE in my experience it's usually an Alpine (almost always) or an Activ Grizzley (they were black, I believe). Of course anything can be painted (i have a white and red ex-military Alpine (it WAS all white (camo), and two owners ago painted part of it red, which has faded to a rusty color. THis summer it (the chassis) will likely get painted black (I'm leaving the cowl it's original white)). |

Yeah. That's mine. I bought it as a basket case. Alpine chassis & 640 engine, I added a big mikuni, n.o.s. AMF tracks (i think), 73 Thunderjet seat, a boat winch, & a wrecked 70 Thunderjet hood On a feeder trail: http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=7063677 Light Grooming: http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=7063686 |

Nice! I like the Blue, too:) Doug - you don't by any chance have a front ski and spring you could part with, do you? My main leaf broke...I may have found a used one, but not sure yet. Looking around at the message boards that seems to be a common things are looking for (main leafs) as they are the one to break, and there is no longer a supply of NOS. I'll try and get pictures of both machines to you. The '78 has a winch and is a real work sled, the '86 I'm hoping to use as a backup groomer and people mover (has "second seat"). I wish I had an image of the '86 when it was all white...the white cowl is neat looking, but the red (now faded to rust-color, but not rusty) looks terrible. |

Couch, yes i have a used main spring. I dont have a real good ski right now. But have 4 alpines coming in the next month , so i will have skis also. I'm going to measure up a main spring some day and cross it to a new part # so i can stock them. You can email me with your info and i will email back a price after i look at the spring and see what your shipping would be. thanks doug |
