I am looking for someone that is presently using the Soucy tracks on a smaller tractor in the 70-80 PTO HP range. I think the ST-500 tracks are the one for this range.
<_< does anyone know what track model is on the Kubota I see in the pictures from the NY show??? I believe that is only a 57 hp unit???
<_< what club is using this machine??? We are wondering how this size would handle a 8 to 9 ft wide drag and lots of ditches and drivway crossings. I would like to talk to some clubs usign this setup so please drop me an e-mail or wade in here with your comments!

Why not just call Soucy with your concerns 1- 877-474-6665 You are correct on the 57 hp for that tractor. It was my undersatnding when I read the forum that Soucy brought that tractor for the show. |

With the cost of fuel where it is now I would not run anymore HP than I needed. If you needed to run something off the PTO then you might need more HP but just pulling a drag. Jumpin jack rabbits my 38 HP Kubota would do that. That L 5740 in the pic has a turbo and is a hydro tranny. |

Larry Snyder, the local NY rep for the Soucy conversions at the show was saying that the rule of thumb is ~10 Hp/1 foot of drag. So the Kubota supposidly would handle about a 6 foot drag. They didn't have a drag there or enough snow to do any real grooming, but my group was doing some pretty serious climbing over the plowed snow banks that were in the parking lot. Contact Larry (716) 537-3207, he can put you in contact with a couple clubs near the Tug Hill region that just got these this year. I'm not sure how much time either club has on them, but Larry might know. Hope this helps!

I'm sure Larry will put you in touch with who it is. He also told us he would bring the little Kubota to us and let us demo it for the day if we wanted, but we don't have a drag that will work with it. All of ours are ram steer. |

Larry Snider sold a John Deere 5540 to a club in NYS. Here is the # 716-870-3602 you can call Peter Watkins too, he is the Soucy rep in charge of the East of US. 819-470-8558 Its pretty much what you are looking for. |

Thanks for all the input. I have talked with Larry yesterday and will be talking with the NY club tonight. Now it looks like the fun might begin. Getting 12 clubs to agree on a tractor brand to mount the tracks on

Check with this club. Brantingham Snomads The put a set on a Kubota L5740. They broke the rear axle housing on the tractor this year. Soucy had a fix for it. So check with them. |

That's rigth and it was the first out of about twelve 5740 that we made. Problems like this just showed how fast Soucy are to fix problems. Inside 4 days every thing was back in the trail. |

What keeps the tracks from flipping over in the front or hitting the fenders in the rear? |

Soucy tracks have a limiter front and back of mounting pin. This pin or bar is supported on both end. done forget John Deere will cover all warranty with tractors using Soucy track Systems. When you go into your neck and under ice this is call abuse. |

Very interesting, I know for a fact that if there is a track stuck in a ditch or under ice, you bend or break it. So I can't understand how John Deere will warranty this. Have enough experience with tracks on ATV's. Also not all groomer drivers are happy with a tractor with tracks. There are lots who want to go back to a "normal" groomer. Thanks, Greg |
