Where are there Pister Schools? I see about two in amercia/canada (safety one appears to be one) but cant find any in Europe. So I invite responses from our members all over the world here! Im trying to find one I could incorporate into a wee ski holiday so Europe probably suits me better (flight times and costs are kinder). There is a Pistebasher experience run by Whitetracks in Courchevel and Meribel but it lasts about 1hr so want something more significant ie something with a qualification at the end. If you know of any fire them on here with a costing please. Most of you probably get the hands on experience infrequently and work your way into a posting but this wont work for me so I thought why not pay for some training in the meantime. Get me away from the wife for a week if nothing else! |

I white so far it does not give School in Europe! Those Switzerland gives it a course, which ends with a qualification! Link (sorry only in German) In most skiing areas it means "Learning by doing"! |

Most Snowmobile clubs could not afford to send a operator to a School that may last 3 to 4 days . Most snowmoblie club drivers don't get paid, they do it after work for free and the pride of the trail that that they put down. In New York they do have a driver training day, I don't no if is some thing that is required by the state to operate a Groomer? |

Why do I have to develop interests that are so difficult to achieve!!!!! Its a real circle of fire this subject! Its like - jobs available but you need experience. Try to get experience and your at the bottom of the pile, try to train yourself officially to overtake some of the pile and theres knowone that does official training - is that us back to the start of the circle again?! Dedication is what I need and I will succeed - Winter aint here yet and my options arent dry yet! Thanks for your thoughts and comments again during this post though.

Dear Mr. Nuggs Colorado Mountain College offers a complete course on grooming and ski area management. You can contact Curt Bender at 719-486-4229. ALSO: We sponsor at Mount Hood every May an elite Terrain Park and Pipe building camp. it is for operators who want to KNOW how to build parks and pipes. It does cost, but if you are interested, it is always the first of May and you must sign up and pay the first eight hours of March. Let me know if this might fit your needs. I would give you a hand at getting in. I am very serious about the timing. Let me know. Paul |

Well after my local efforts have fallen through a little (one is still hangin on by a thread) I planned a ski holiday to Tignes for a week in March. Being me, I wasnt one to be beaten so I e-mailed a few folk there in the tourist industry and got a name. Just off the phone to his secretary (you should have felt my relief when she stopped me making a fool of myself in French and said "you prefer to speak english?"). Thats me getting a few lateshifts whilst Im there so fingers crossed that wont fall through! It really does pay to persist! |
