Hi everybody ! :)
im glad to find this forum because im fed up to find anything that can help me on the net..
SO this is my problem : i have a small ground and i want to groom it by myself .

But i don't want to buy a full grooming machine. Too expensive and my ground is small :(

So i thought about differents ideas, and i would like you comment that a little, because some of you are professionals in ski area..

the machine must : :winter:
-have a tiller or something to groom the surface
-not be too heavy, in order to not go down in the snow..

first solution :
i buy a old tractor, i add on it tracks, a snow plough (blazer) in the front, a hydraulic pump pluged on the PTO and a snow tiller (the same you can find on the back of grooming machines like Pisten Bully)
Posted Image

problems : :banghead:
-it appears that i can't set up the tracks by myself. I have to send my tractor to somebody in order he make some importants modifications...i don't want, i live too far away...
see below :
http://www.marcelgrooming.com/default.aspx
http://www.ebertwelding.com/groomers/surtrac/
http://www.mclean-ind.com/Snow-related-products.htm

i can also order tracks from mattracks.com ou here :http://www.go-storm.com/eng/teamtrack/team_track.html
but i wonder if the tracks is large enough...

-where i can buy snow tiller like the Pisten Bully have on their back ??

2nd solution :
i bought a old tractor, i add on it tracks, a snow plough in the front, and a treedozer (or mower i m not sure of the term in english...) pluged on the PTO.

Posted Image

problems :
-same problem for the tracks than previously
-someone told me he already groomed with a mower...what do you think ?

3rd solution :
i buy a pick-up car, i add on it tracks, a snow plough in the front and a hydraulic pump on the back to supply a snow tiller in oil..
Posted Image

problems :
-this kind of car is powerful enough to tract a snow tiller ?

that's all ! in the first view, it's seems crazy, but i'm sure I can do it ! :scool:
if one of you have better idea, don't hesitate to tell me
(and sorry for my english, so poor... :( )

Well, you sure have found the right site.

a. Your english ain't worser much mine than
b. The folks on this site WILL have your solution

:myopinon: but I reckon for the price of an old tractor and the mods you want, you would be better shopping for a proper groomer. Some are going at reasonable prices you know but they are older.

Try www.chameleoninc.com/snowcats or www.resortboneyard.com

Postage may be in issue (as it is for me) but they have a nice selection and give you an idea of prices. I think your tractor idea would work out too expensive.

Welcome.

How cheep is cheep? I just read about a new tracked uttility vehical form ASV. It is a cross between a Gator or RTV and a tracked skid steer. It has auxilary hydrolics front and rear for attachments. The undercarrage design is also used in Cat's tracked skid steers. The base model sells for about $25,000 US. :summer:

hehe, not from canada, a little bit to the east.. i live in Dalandzadgad in the South of Mongolia. :xm1:

i asked the price for some product :
the 01S-H 2-man track carrier : 142 000 dollars ! :o (http://www.powertraxx.com/tracked.html)
mattracks tracks : 30 000 dollars !! (i think it's the same for Soucy Track System... (thank you anyway snoplane))
a snow tiller (the same that we can found in the rear of fullsize grooming machine) : about 30 000 euros !!!! (a new one) (and it's so hard to find a manufacturer)

so because it's too expensive for me (i don't want to spend more than 40 000 dollars in totality) i think i will directly buy a tracked machine with a mower plug in the rear PTO.

scrr, i didn't know some posi-track machines was so cheap. It's really interesting. :)
the basic model you spoke is that one ? -> http://www.asvi.com/press_release_detail.cfm?NewsID=138

2 week ago, i went in china, in the North of Beijing (WanLong) and saw that :

it's a little bulldozer with some ski stick on the track in order to have a low pressure on the snow... i think this kind of machine have already a rear PTO, maybe i have to try it...(don't laugh, i'm serious !! )

How about this, it is from Europe? Not too big, but lots of power, and likely reasonably priced.

Small Powerful Groomer
