I've found one of these for sale locally, needing an engine....

I have an old Alpine I ('79)...I've read online these are "better"...but does anyone here have any personal experience with them?

I've heard you CAN still get parts through Polaris....not sure about that either. At least the engines are "normal"!

A friend had one and it got awful hot when pulling alot of snow. Yes it had a Polaris engine. These things are bigger then a Alpine.

We have an Aktiv Grizzly for sale that runs and everything works on it right in our yard at Track Inc. for not a great deal of money. Contact Steve at Track and make an offer. Were located in Bloomington MN (twin cities).

It does not have a Polaris engine. I think it's a Kawi? I know it's not Polaris or Fuji.

It's not on the web site, but if you would like photos of it, let me know and I will shoot them out to you on e-mail.

I just bought a grizzly and am in need of gear box seals. Anyone have any leads on where I can get some. The grizzlys came with either a 503 rotax or the fuji 440.

I have and use a Grizzly Aktiv for grooming XC ski trails in Northern Michigan. Generally a good snowmobile, but not quite the machine my Alpine II is. Runs hotter; but most of the plastic schrowds and air channels around the engine are removed under the outer plastic cover; that which has holes cut into the sides to allow better air circulation. Makes for comfortable driving from the knees up when it is cold. I try to avoid using it when temps are above freezing; too warm.

Mine has a Polaris 440 Indy engine and the tracks (double) are long track Artic Cat units. Have no idea of what the transmission came from. That's an issue if the trans ever goes, but it seems more solid than the Alpine's transmission. Works well and quite a bit of power.

Both are getting hard to find parts for. Keep me posted!! :) :letsnow:

they are an artic cat but they seam to have cut them short and put thier own spline on the shaft. The one we had broke one shaft and stripped out the inside of the center gear. The end cost somewhere around 700 our labor . Sorry for the bad news, we found a guy near millinocate Maine who had lots of parts. Or maybe a local machine shop could help you. Maybe one of the up Maine guys can give you a lead on finding the guys with parts.
