There is a BR 60 for sale that our club is looking at. It has a Perkins Diesel and a Chyrsler 727 Transmission. Anyone have any experience with this equipment? What should we be looking at besides sprocket and belt wear? It is a 1989 with less than 3000 hours on it. Any comments are welcome.

 Jeeze, almost 100 views and no one has any input for Joel!

Surely someone has some experience with a BR60, good or bad.

I thought I read somewhere that the BR60, 60+ and 110 basically had the same drivetrain as the Bombi. Is that true?

Does it have Ram Steer Joel? What type of drag?

Someone please help Joel out, he puts a lot of hard work and enthusiasm into his club and he needs a good groomer for the really cool new section of trail thier club is going to open this summer! :jump:

It"s :myopinon:,but :summer: and :winter:

Thanks for the kind words!

I figured everone was out cutting grass, riding bikes, and fishing. Actually, I didn't even realize it, but there are 2 of these for sale. One in Montreal and one out towards Buffalo. Did hear that there is a BR60+ mode that was turbocharged, and that the BR60 units may be a bit under powered.

The Buffalo mahine has a single blade drag with a very heavy pan on it.
The Montreal machine has looks to have a similar desgin drag. Both have ram steer, and both have less than 3000 hours on them.

If you know anybody from the CNY club in Madison county, they have two BR 60s.
One of their Br60s have "radius steer" and the other ram steer. The radius steer is more of a 5th wheel style hitch mounted on a hydralic motor. They were telling me that you can turn passed 90 degrees with it.
There operators may be a good source of info  .
Good luck with your seach.

We have a BR-60+ with radius steer. The machine itself has plenty of power. I did hear that the un-turbocharged models are under powered, but I don't have any personal experience with them. If the unit you are looking at has a front blade, its basically useless. You can do light work with it, but the machine doesn't do well if your trying to move any significant amount of snow or cut a hard packed corner.

I would highly recommend the ram steer over the radius steer. Our radius steer unit goes through at least one steering gear a year. You have to be moving forward to use it and if you put too much load on the gear, it snaps. It has an inherent weak spot in the "key" area. The gears aren't cheap either.

As far as traction, they have plenty. The ride is nice too (at least for the driver). We have an 18-08 Mogul Master behind it and the combination works very well for us.

We looked at the machine in WNY. Its in decent shape. I wasn't thrilled with the single blade drag, but they said it worked well for them. Most of their trails are through open fields, so I don't think they had to deal with many moguls using it.

I hope this helps.
