Our club just purchased a 1997 Tucker. We have never owned a tucker before but we have heard many good things about them. I am looking for some input from tucker owners and operators as to likes and dislikes about these machines. I also would like to hear about any maintenence issuse other tucker users have had. Any help is greatly appreciated. Great site Koz. Thank You Mike Putt , Frankliville snowmobile club

Welcome to the club! We had a '94 Tucker before. Just a bit of advice.......if you ever have to change your track rubbers, don't buy cheap aftermarket. Some of it is good but here's what happens:

Some of the aftermarket track manufacturers out there offer a good product for a reasonably less cost than purchasing from the factory. What happened to us is that we thought we were getting a good deal with replacement tracks on ours. Well, almost every time we went out with the thing for a couple of years after we changed the tracks, we would break a track and have to walk it home on three tracks. I think what was happening was that with the tuckers track design being four belts per track, twigs and branches often get stuck between the belts and can rip them if they are of an inferior quality/strength. Our old Lamtrac had the same setup(four belts per track and it was the same thing). Our new one has two wider belts per track and we can go allot more places with low snow now without worrying as much about rippping a track. We ripped one this year but that was due to a worn out track that was full of splits already anyways.

Just a note on tuckers. Like I said, we had one before and I can tell you that you should be happy with it if it's maintained properly. It will go allot of places some of the two tracked machines won't go.

Check wheels and grease often, just be carefull not to push seals out.
We have an older Tucker without caps over locknuts, and can push water
out when greasing.
