Pixie--I"m looking at having to cut, or have someone cut, my soft wood. Those arches look like quite a rig. I'll have to use a small tractor or a 4wheeler to get in the woods. Are they much $$$'s? Looks like a very low impact type of set up. |

I had a chance to see the 4 wheelers & UTV with tracks & utlity sleds pull drag at a groomer show for X-country sking. If you put tracks on go with the new deep lug Matracks they out did any other track that was there. They really did not out steer the sleds and in deep fresh snow ungroomed they had to keep the speed up and had track spin. At this grooming demo they showed how to set up a sled for grooming by putting weight brackets on the front of the sled and putting a flex ski to help steer. From what I came away with is sled are still the way to go for small narrow trails , with large amounts of snow, if you have low snow then go with the ATV with tracks. |

flyingcow, yes, very low impact. This arch is made by Logrite and Future Forestry Products. They have several models. Arches are made by lots of companies and range from $600 to $1500 for ATV sizes. Some include an electric or manual winch. http://www.logrite.com/ |

Flyingcow, why not hire a team of draft horses, they are low impact and the twitch trail makes a nice walking trail without tire ruts.
