I have the chance to but a 1990 Alpine 2 for $3000 or tracks for my 03 Kawasaki 650 atv. I want to pull a 4x8 down some of our feeder trails. I know the Alpine will do it, But I hate to have another sled taking up space. I did have a 1970 Alpine and It didn"t steer that great, Are the Alpine 2's better are steering? What would you do? :unsure:

Get the tracks.

You can use them to tow your log arch across people's lawns :)

No the 2's don't steer much better. If you want to have a big machine laying around most of the year doing nothing, then get the Alpine. If I had the extra
$ I would get tracks.

I would get the tracks but I have to say I do have 2 alpines I am restoring just because Iam a little wierd. I don't plan to groom much with them just doing it for the fun of it. 69 alpine and a 71 valmont .
I use to know a guy that groomed for your club with a alpine he live just off Bow lake rd. and drove dump truck for Bailey.

When your not grooming the tracks are a blast. Great for scouting new trails, you can go almost anywhere in deep snow. The downfall is that they are slow.
If you don't fall off your not going fast enough!

SCRR you are right about the speed. The other thing is they add up the mileage real quick because of the big contact area with the ground! They will go anywhere, I had mine in 30 inches of powder this year and it never got stuck!!!

Good idea for the logging arch on grass. B) How much weight do you haul with your ATV with tracks?

2003 Honda Rancher 350 ES. 3 years of grooming with it and no problems with the machine at all. Routine maintenance spring and summer and thats it. Approximately 20 hours each year grooming. Very happy with it so far!

Don, I've towed a trailer that weighs over 3000 pounds. My bike has a Low range that makes a big difference.

Just a few of the 12" logs I towed out last week.
