Mark,

We bought Cornish's old '87 Track Truck 2500 last year, just to basically try it out. Wish it was a diesel, but they're not as bad as people make them out to be. I think you guys will like the HPT if you were happy with the '91. I understand that you '95 1000 will be next door to us in Cornish.

Wow, a 2000 though, but for the rail-bed that is the right thing, will it be a Terra?

Don't feel too bad Terry, at least your gas TT runs. You saw my '85 TT. :banghead: I do like the '97HPT a lot better. :scool: :letsnow:

Mark/Darby,

I meant to say the 1000 would be next door to us in Charlestown, lost my head there for a moment. Had Cornish on the brain.

Jim/All

It seems that the HPT's were the best of the track trucks, 3rd generation so to speak, and that if they were still building them today, people would still be buying them. We aren't unhappy with the gas model, it works fairly well. I groomed 80 or so hours in it last season, and was suprised where I could actually go with it. It was a good baby-step away from the Skandics, something to get our feet wet with, now we have some goal posts to head towards.

Mark.

I don't know about light years, but I like the heat, and hydraulics are nice. Also, I could groom most of the week, and be ready to go snowmobiling on Saturday morning, rather than feeling like I had ridden all week....

Basically, you have to respect the limitations of the machine. But, with the 6 1/2' drag on it, I could cover 25-30 miles of trail, but regularly I was covering around 20. It needs a good winch, and then we could put it on more difficult spots.

In some cases we used skandics and the TT on some of the same stuff, that made for very nice conditions, as the mogul masters could put a nice finish on the trail. The TT older snowsaver works good, but it doesn't overly process the snow.. But, we could get a trail back more quickly, and our snowbanks were way better than they were with the skandics and mogul master drags.

Question? Why did you guys choose to replace the TT with a '98 HPT and not move the 1000 over to where the '91 TT had been running? Were the trails more compatible with the TT with the fold-up drag and such?

Terry,

My major purchase for the HPT TT this year is a Hydraulic winch. With what little we were able to do last winter, the added power was great and the blade was a back saver on the snow banks. However, I my also be looking at different drag, AFMI? I want to see how Hidden Valley Sno-Riders works first. :letsnow:

the AFMI appears to be a pretty darn good drag for the money. are you not happy with the snow saver 2?
