I have done a very quick analysis on games awarded to what appears to be the top 5 referees in the Premiership, which clubs they did and how many of those club games were refereed by these 5. Wayne Barnes (16 matches) -Harlequins 5 matches -Sale 4 matches -Northampton, Bath, Leicester, Exeter 3 matches -Saracens, Wasps, Gloucester, London Welsh 2 matches -London Irish 1 match JP Doyle (16 matches) -Bath, Leicester, Exeter, Wasps 4 matches -Saracens, Harlequins 3 matches -Sale, Gloucester, London Irish, Newcastle 2 matches -Northampton (!), London Welsh 1 match Greg Garner (17 matches) -Northampton, Bath, London Irish 4 matches -Saracens, Wasps, Sale, Gloucester, Harlequins 3 matches -Leicester, Newcastle, London Welsh 2 matches -Exeter 1 match Matt Carley (17 matches) -Sale, London Irish, Leicester 4 matches -Northampton, Saracens, Exeter, Gloucester 3 matches -Bath, Newcastle, London Welsh, Harlequins 2 matches Luke Pearce (13 matches) -Leicester, Saracens 4 matches -Wasps, Newcastle 3 matches -Bath, Gloucester, London Irish, London Welsh, Harlequins 2 matches -Northampton, Sale 1 match Did not referee Exeter This meant that Leicester had 17 of their 22 matches refereed by one of 5 officials Bath, Saracens and Harlequins 15 matches Wasps and Sale 14 matches London Irish 13 matches Northampton and Gloucester 12 matches Exeter and Newcastle 11 matches London Welsh 9 matches 53 matches were shared amongst the other referees on the list - Andrew Small, Tim Wigglesworth and Dean Richards doing a large share of these, along with new names like Ian Tempest, Greg MacDonald, Tom Foley and Craig Maxwell-Keys |
