Appointments for the forth coming Rugby Championship http://www.irb.com/mm/Document/NewsMedia/MediaZone/02/07/20/87/140623-appts.pdf Clancy back in the fold with a mdidle, good appointment for John Lacey (I like his style), 2 games for 'world referee of the year' Owens, Jackson with a match as well Alongside usual suspects Walsh, Poite, Peyper, Gauzerre, Garces, Joubert and Barnes Craig Joubert heads the all South African team for the 3rd Aus v NZ match Good appointment for Luke Pearce with one of the WC Play Off matches Edited by RCG, Tuesday, 24. Why, I wonder? Does anyone know who the teams are/could be? Mr Pearce has had a testing season - who hasn't! Is this another example of the rigorous IRB performance system in operation? |

The first round of the repêchage is Uruguay vs Hong Kong and Russia vs Zimbabwe The winners play a 2 legged match to decide the final team for England 2015 Only thing I can think of is that Luke Pearce officiated in the African WC play offs (which was known before these appointments came out). Not sure if there was a specific issue or whether it was just felt best to withdraw him. Nigel Owen's appointment, much as I love him as a referee, seems a bit over the top in comparison to the other appointment. |
