PREDICT-A-REF 2012/2013 This season’s competition will again be run by covboy. Rules & Regulations: 1. All entries must be made by the cut-off point each week, which will usually be the Monday before the matches are played. The topic will then be closed and no entries or requested changes made after this time will be accepted. However, if you miss the cut-off point for each gameweek I will be more than happy to accept entries via PM along with an excuse! 2. All points will be awarded based on the original appointments for each game – you will not get points for any changes to the original set of appointments that are released. 3. Please ensure that if you sign up you try to enter each week – it makes life difficult if you don’t. 4. If there are any problems or queries during the season simply send a PM to covboy and I will try to reply at the earliest opportunity. Weekly Competitions: Premier League Predict-A-Ref: This competition remains exactly the same as last season. For those of you who are new to the game, or those of you have forgotten the scoring system, you predict which referees will take charge of the Premier League matches in the game week. You score 5 points for correctly predicting one referee, 10 points for 2 referees etc. If you manage to predict 5 referees correctly, you will score 50 points. If all of your predictions are correct, then 100 points will be awarded. Football League Predict-A-Ref: This competition also remains the same. Each game week you will need to predict the referee for the selected game in each of the Football leagues. You will receive 25 points for guessing one referee correctly, 50 points for 2 referees and 100 points for getting all 3 correct. The Official Line: The Official Line will continue in the same format as last season, where the competition will feature every week. One Premier League fixture will be selected, and you have to predict all 4 officials that will be appointed to that fixture. 25 points will be awarded for guessing one official correct, and so on. 200 points will be awarded if you correctly guess all 4 officials. Extra Competitions: (The two competitions below will alternate each week. Week 1 – Take Two, Week 2 – Board Duties etc) Take Two: This competition will remain the same as last season, where you will need to guess the assistants that will be paired together for a set of Premier League appointments. Each week you will be asked to predict three different pairings, which are non-game specific. 25 points will be awarded for each correct pairing and 100 points will be gained if all three pairings are correct. Board Duties: This competition will run in the same format as last season, where you will need to predict 5 referees that will receive appointments as Fourth Official in a Premier League fixture (Duplicate appointments will not count (i.e. a referee is Fourth Official on a Saturday then a Sunday), you must name 5 different referees!) 10 points will be awarded for each correct prediction, with 100 points being awarded if you manage to correctly answer all 5 Fourth Officials. *All of the above competitions can be entered at any time by any ratetheref member and do not require pre-season sign up. However if you do enter once please try and ensure that you enter the competition again.* The Predict-A-Ref Cup: This competition will remain the same as last season. The crown jewels of P-A-R will be a straight knockout competition (depending on entries). All ties in this competition will be based on appointments for the FA Cup. In the event of a tie, I will ask you to predict another aspect to the competition, such as how many cautions will be issued or how many goals will be scored. More details will follow when the competition begins. The Predict-A-Ref League Cup: The competition will stay in the same format as last season, which is based on appointments in the Carling Cup and Johnstone’s Paint Trophy ties. Again, depending on numbers, the competition will have a group stage phase before the knock-out phase to determine this year’s winner. The competition will not begin until at least Week 4. The P-A-R Europa Champions Super League Cup: This competition will be based on the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. Entrants will be drawn into groups of 4, each playing 6 games (again, dependant on numbers). Teams will play each other twice; 3 points will be awarded for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. The winner and runner up of each group will progress to the quarter finals, and from then on it will be in knockout format. Whether the knock-out phase will be over one or two legs will be determined later on in the season. *Your name will only be considered in the draws for the above 3 competitions if you enter the competition on the Sign Up thread. Please be aware that if you do not sign up then I will not consider you for the Knock-out competitions.* Good luck to all and thank you for your participation in the competition! |
