A first full UEFA appointment for Scotland's John Beaton in the UEFA Europa League First qualifying round game between Elfsborg and Floriana. It is also a first UEFA appointment for Assistant Referee Alan Mulvanny.

Paul has had 4th official appointments before but not sure if they were "full" games, may only have been u21s before. Paul isn't on the FIFA list, he's in our FIFA referee development category since the restructuring this year.

Good going for the young man, given that last year was his first full season!

Yeah but likely to be a while before making the FIFA list also as we've got quite a young group there already. Craig Thomson is the oldest at 40 and will be there for at least another 2 years as on WC 2014 list.

After that William (33) just promoted to Elite so still plenty of years ahead of him. Euan Norris (35) cat 1, Steven McLean (31) and Bobby Madden (34) cat 2 with John Beaton (30) and Kevin Clancy (29) cat 4 - just on at start of the year.

And Kevin Clancy is in Azerbaijan the following week, with Messrs Bee and Stevenson, and with Brian Colvin as 4th Official. Again three of the four are gaining valuable experience at this early stage in their careers. I hope all goes well for them.

Excellent appointment for Paul Robertson, you won't meet a nicer bloke in refereeing, so good to see him rising in the ranks year after year!

It certainly is a young FIFA list that we've got up here in Scotland, although they seem to have a bit of a habit of taking guys off even when they're still a few years awfay from it. Alan Muir was only 36 when he got taken off, and Iain Brines was only 40 when he came off too. It wouldn't surprise me if the same was to happen to one of Euan Norris or Bobby Madden to make way for Paul Robertson, certainly if Steven McLean manages to get bumped up a category.

Martin is not forgotten about, still one of our top FIFA Assistants and was part of William Collum's team last year for Champions & Europa League.
