Was it just me or did the majority of the throw ins in the game look "illegal"

Yes

Discussed this with Darren Cann one. He said that at Premiership/international level foul throws are the least of the match officials' worries. However he did then say he'd given a couple of foul throws that season!

I'm glad it wasn't only me that kept shouting 'foul throw' at the television. The Swedish players in particular got lazier and lazier with their throw ins. One near the end the player didn't even bother to put the ball behind his head let alone throw it from there.

A minor issue perhaps but annoying nonetheless and the defence of 'more important things to worry about' doesn't stack up and is also laziness this time on on the part of Officials.

Agreed; "more important things to worry about" is an outrageous statement. Ignore all the minor rules so we've got a half chance of getting some of the bigger decisions right? Turning a defensive throw level with the penalty area into an attacking one could be a match changing decision. Nearly all the Swedish throws on the far side seemed illegal, surely the 5 officials could spot that between them ?

I agree, when they're that bad, they should really be picked up on. Just looks so sloppy.

I get the point that its top level so people want it to be about football not the match officials, but professional players should be able to take a legal throw in. I don't mind a little leeway, but some of the throws we see now don't even come close to what the law says they should be.
