According to this morning's Times, Superleague referee Richard Silverwood has been suspended for an alleged breach of the League's information data policy. Apparently he is alleged to have passed personal details of other officials to the trade union Prospect. The "ankle injury" reason for his non appearance so far is now said to be not true. The Times goes on to say that this follows on from the "sudden" return to Australia of Ashley Klein. Losing two of the top officials, especially when there are only six or seven anyway, is quite a blow but I suppose will give the others more of a chance. Edited by reflector, Tuesday, 17. Like whom? I thought there were only 6 after Ashley Klein left so where are the others going to come from? This problem is more acute as Super League has 14 teams & therefore 7 refs are needed for each round of games. |

So, we now have Ganson, Thaler, Bentham, Smith and Ailibert. So 5 refs to fo 7 games. Hewer was used last week but didn't look super league quality at all! This is getting really stupid. The 2 best refs are now suspended/left. Ganson has got the grand final, he doesn't have to worry about that! Alibert is still very new to super league, less than 15 games. Smith...He was better in the past, and his brother was allot better. We are now in a situation where some, IMO the Friday referees will have to do Sunday games as well. Because the standard of NL refs is below par and they shouldn't be in super league! |

Jamie Leahy also did a match at the weekend IIRC. Yes, the list is very short at the moment, and this is worrying. I hope the suspension isn't long-term, as seeing Leahy and Hewer on SL is not a relishing thought!! |

I suppose it's now much too late but a grovelling call to Karl Kirkpatrick might have been one solution. |

That was Ian Smith - a referee who I have never been totally sure about. |

Yes, I know Russel Smith was a referee on SL until he emigrated to Australia a few years ago. The referee on Friday night was Ian Smith, which is what I was referring to. |

No sign of Keith Hackett round Super League HQ? Sounds like one of his referee departments. |
| Better to be thought a fool, than to hit that keyboard and remove all doubts! | |
