I see Ashley is leaving to return to his native Australia. Big loss to super league as a great ref but family reasons for doing so. The French guy Thierry Albert has been offered a place in Super League this coming season and the hunt is also on for someone else due to expansion in number of teams. |

Only just seen this post (prompted by Crispy's comment under the General Discussion heading). Very sorry that Klein is going as I feel he's head and shoulders above the rest. I don't think I've seen him have a game where he hasn't been good and probably could count the number of mistakes on the fingers of one hand. I wish him well for the future. |

Yeah, it is a big hole left in SG refereeing. I am just hoping that the other guys make the step up. We have a good list already, and despite only having six/seven officials, there is a strong list - I suspect that the 7th referee will be made up from a mixture of referees. |

There's an excellent Rugby League show on City Talk Radio. You can catch it on line at http://www.citytalk.fm Tonight (Tuesday's) show features Stuart Cummings talking about all sorts of refereeing matters including the offering of the contract to Thierry Albert. You can catch it on Listen Again. Not sure how quickly it's updated - think it's just after the show has finished. On the Listen Again page select Tuesday and Peter McDowell's sport show, then skip to 2 hours. It's usually on a Wednesday but moved to tonight because of tomorrow's footy.
