Friends Provident Trophy; Durham Dynamos - Campeones!

I was at Chester-le-Street today to see Durham knock off the necessary runs within 19 overs to beat Essex and reach their 1st ever Lord's Final.

Makes it sound extraordinarily easy, especially when I say that Essex were bowled out for just 71 in 22 overs! However, the Dynamos made incredibly hard work of it, at one stage slumping to 38/7 before a partnership between Ottis Gibson and Liam Plunkett (who also took 4-15 in a man of the match display) saw us home. Just.

In the other semi, Hampshire beat Warwickshire at the Rose Bowl by 40 runs. So, Durham vs Hampshire in the Final at Lord's on August 18th. Hampshire will doubtless be everyone's favourites....but we shall see.

Sounds like an interesting pitch at CLS, P-A?

Plunkett did well, definite MOTM performance. How did Harmy bowl yesterday?

PS - You will be making the Riverside your second home soon, twice in three days? :P

Harmy, having been at his best on Tuesday, was a good way from it on Wednesday. He was probably the worst of our bowlers, although the last couple of overs he sent down were much more like it.

The highlight of the day was Plunkett smashing a free hit for 6!

And yeah, a very interesting pitch! Bear in mind that the torrential rain returned on Tuesday night, and didn't stop until about 3 hours before yesterday's game, so I doubt they had much time to prepare a wicket during or after the test match!
