....Ian Botham. The Queens birthday honours list has been released and it shows a knighthood for the Cricket legend, Ian Botham. A side of him I don't think many appreciate as much as they should, is the charity work he does. Raising around £10 million in his projects. Congratulations to Ian, and everyone else who received an honour. |

A superb decision. The charity work he has done has been nothing short of incredible. |

Excellent honour for his charity work, and one could argue based solely on his cricketing work he could have been knighted. Very well done Sir Ian Botham  |

Can anyone tell me how long more we have to wait until we hear the words "Arise Sir Richie"? Richie Benaud has been the doyen of cricket commentators for decades now, following on the back of a successful career as cricketer, captain and administrator. And a true gent to boot (even more remarkable seeing as he is an Aussie!!); an absolute credit to his profession. I dont begrudge Botham his award but inevitably honours like this throw up comparisons with those who have so far gone without and Benaud is the clear omission in my view. |

Yeah, Richie Benaud is a legend - he deserves to be knighted IMO as well  |

I agree that Richie Benaud should be knighted, so I've set up a petition to the prime minister: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/arise-sir-richie/ If you agree, please sign, and tell friends and other messageboards |

I think Richie Benaud may have turned the honour down in the past. |
| Better to be thought a fool, than to hit that keyboard and remove all doubts! | |
