Umpires for forthcoming series just announced. Surprised not to see Simon Taufel included - I dont recall him umpiring here much in the last 3 or 4 years, whereas Rudi Koertzen, Aleem Dar and Billy Bowden seem to crop us with amazing regularity.

England v West Indies – 4 Tests
Match Referee: Umpires
1st Test Alan Hurst Asad Rauf and Rudi Koertzen
2nd Test Alan Hurst Asad Rauf and Rudi Koertzen
3rd Test Alan Hurst Aleem Dar and Billy Bowden
4th Test Alan Hurst Aleem Dar and Billy Bowden

England v West Indies – 3 ODIs
Match Referee: Umpires
1st ODI Mike Procter Brian Jerling and Nigel Llong
2nd ODI Mike Procter Brian Jerling and Ian Gould
3rd ODI Mike Procter Brian Jerling and Mark Benson

Good to see Asad Rauf appearing in the 1st two games. He's a new face & did well in the CWC.

Surprised that Taufel hasn't been given a game. Maybe, he's asked for a rest!

I do agree that Dar, Bowden, Koertzen & Bucknor seem to be the 1st "neutral" umpires considered for international games.

Dar seems well in favour at the moment. A bit like Rob Styles to me. Capable of high quality performances on occasions, but on other occasions, you wonder why he's made certain decisions. Inconsistent is the word.

The Bangladesh v India forthcoming test/ODI appointments:

Daryl Harper and Billy Doctrove will stand in both tests, and the three ODI's will be umpired by Asoka de Silva and a local umpire. The match referee will be Roshan Mahanama for the whole series.

The full set of domestic appointments has been out for a while, and the 2 T20 games are:

Game 1 - Hartley and Llong
Game 2 - Gould and Llong

Interestingly, none of the domestic final appointments are out yet, but there are some clues by the appointments for the CC games the week prior to the final.

And very good he is too. Had my doubts about him when he first appeared but he's come on a bit. Dar and Bowden are very good appointments for the final 2 tests. Might even get myself along to the Riverside for the test there if I can find someone to go with before the tickets sell out...

ODIs in Abu Dhabi between Pakistan and Sri Lanka - Match referee is Javagal Srinath, with Mark Benson, Russell Tiffin and Suresh Shastri on rotation as the main 3 umpires. For the 1st ODI its Benson and Shastri on-field, Tiffin joins Shastri for the 2nd and Benson teams up with Tiffin for the last.

Watching the highlights now on SS and there were some wonderful strokes played by Cook and Collingwood in particular.
Some woeful fielding by the Windes as well if i'm honest.

Looks a good sound lad does Cookie.
"I swear you'll never see anything like this ever again. So watch it. Drink it in.

They've just heard the news at the Stadium of Light..."

It's Ian Gould for Nigel Llong in the final ODI, as Benson and Llong have disappeared off to South Africa, hence there's been a bit of change in the domestic appointments for Llong too.

Hot, Spicy, and Tastes Good!

Do you have the dates for these fixtures (for the casual Cricket fan who gets the higlights three weeks after the fact) ?
My drinking team has a soccer problem.

Apparently Steve Bucknor and now Aleem Dar didn't get their visas processed in time, so the ICC had to send for Rudi, and Tony Hill.
