Arguably, the most crucial game of the weekend is at the bottom of L2 when Morecambe entertain Barnet, after which (subject to Morecambe v Cambridge tomorrow night) either side could end up in the Conference next season; and it is not therefore surprising that SG2 Geoff Eltringham is in charge of this game.

Not a complaint, because I think he's a decent referee headed for bigger things, but Doncaster Rovers have now had John Brooks four times this calendar year. He was scheduled to do the AFC Wimbledon game on Easter Monday when it was postponed. I did assume he wouldn't keep the appointment when he was put in charge of our game at Gillingham a few days later.

Appointments not being spread around much, are they?

... and Geoff Eltringham at Morecambe v Barnet in view of Morecambe's failure to beat Cambridge last night. Just 992 present at Morecambe, the (?) third League crowd of the season of under 1000, and all at Morecambe. Sounds as though the Morecambe faithful are already resigned to watching their team play Salford City next season. :'(

Seen him twice this season and don’t rate him. He was weak and inconsistent both times. Also isn’t Carl Boyeson a bit local for a game at Grimsby?

They did away with the postcode rule from the start of this season. It did have a very farcical side to it - when Keith Stroud lived an hour or so drive away from AFCB at the other end of the county but still had a BH postcode he wasn't allowed to ref us, when he moved 45mins closer but just over the border into Hants then he could! Utterly pointless when you consider things like that!
Officially a Southern Softie!

They were bound to have a NL referee on 4O duty on a televised game. I'm a little surprised Scott Oldham has been taken off it, but the fact he's been replaced on Saturday as well suggests he's unavailable.

How many reds is that now for the Surrey card shark this season.

Clearly with Kettle nearing retirement someone has to continue the tradition of flashing red cards around like confetti!! :sarcasm: :red:

Wow, that's good going. Presumably Charles is out in front in terms of cards issued during the season.

Scunthorpe v Plymouth tomorrow night assumes huge importance in terms of who contests the playoffs in L1, with Plymouth needing to win to have any hope of pipping Scunthorpe (and possibly Charlton) to the remaining playoff spots. I feel a bit sorry for Scott Oldham but I can understand why Ben Toner has replaced him for this crucial TV game, with Mr Kettle as 4O. Ben has struck me as a bright prospect who could be destined for promotion in the near future. I wish him and the team well
