I hope Durkin junior doesn't learn how to influence games from having Kettle on centre stage!!

What is happening with Seb Stockbridge? A penalty award at Oxford (v Donnies) on 9th Dec which wasn't even close to the edge of the penalty area, and another penalty award and red card at Lincoln v Accrington last Saturday which didn't even look like a foul. Hoping for better from the new 'silver fox' when he visits Gresty Road on New Year's Day. :'(

Didn't look like the distinctive balding head of Graham Horwood at Barnet on Sat (Ch 5 highlights). Did he start or pull out late, and does anyone know who took over?

Charles Breakspear continues as the FL 'hatchet man' with 2 red cards and 5 yellows at Northampton.

I have thought for a while that Mr Stockbridge isn't a very good referee, so his baffling decisions don't really surprise me. There are a lot of poor officials, assistants as well, doing League One and Two games. Time for some new blood, as some of the newer ones I have seen have been decent.

Looked like Dean Whitestone at Barnet from the fleeting looks we got

The send off at Northampton of the away player was spot on, horrible tackle. Felt a bit for the Northampton lad (2nd caution I know) as I thought there was a more aggressive colleague who got away with no sanction

Yes, agreed that it looked more like the dark haired Dean Whitestone than the balding Graham Horwood. I notice that Dean had come off Friday night's fixture so was presumably available to ref the game on Saturday at Barnet. I wonder why he was switched and why his replacement, John Busby, was not given the Barnet game instead. A 6-pointer basement battle at Barnet but surely no need for the experienced Whitestone rather than the comparatively inexperienced Busby.

Agree with you fully on the 1st sending off at Northampton, one of the worst challenges I've seen and the game can do without this sort of thing.

Edit - L loved the comment of one of the L1 / L2 managers on the Ch 5 highlights (can't remember who it was) who said, "we must take it on the chin.... or in my case on the chins" . Brilliant, if only some of the PL managers had his self-depreciating wit :cheer:

It was definitely Dean Whitestone at Barnet, although after being taken off the Swindon fixture, he was the put down as fourth official at Millwall v Middlesbrough in place of John Busby, who instead went to Swindon. In the event, Ron Ganfield was fourth official at Millwall.

John Coleman made the chins comment. I think he had a point about the penalty, to be honest.

Thanks for confirmation of Dean Whitestone at Barnet. Although there may be some other reason for his absence, Graham Horwood is definitely one of the more injury-prone refs on the FL.

I always hope for his absence when he is appointed to matches I'm going to, but he keeps turning up !

I read somewhere that last Friday night is the night of the year when traditionally London suffers the most alcohol-fueled disorder. Police leave from the Met may have been thin on the ground that evening.

Excellent official wherever he happens to be !

I believe Dean Whitestone ( who I agree is an excellent referee ) has a much more specialised role in the Met than dealing with street disorder.

Could be why Graham Horwood was not on the game - he's in the Met.

Dean Whitestone was in the DPG, not sure if he still is though, but if he is then he'd not be dealing with the drunken idiots that fill up custody suits all too quickly!!

Surely he would have closed the date, if his police work was going to affect any appointments.

Anyway, ‘Mad Friday’ is a time the end of this week, not last week.

We all thought our player (Crooks) was second cautioned for continuing to argue by how far they were walking away from the incident however he was told by Mr Breakspear that it was for going head to head. I have watched the footage a number of times and not seen any action that resembled 'head to head' by Crooksy?

Ah, my apologies to Graham if he was on duty rather than injured. That could explain why he stepped down from the Crewe v Blackburn FA Cup tie after it was postponed for 24 hours.

The appeals panel has rescinded Rawson's red card and ban. I think we can agree with them on this one.
