The 'big guns' out for Grimsby v Donnies. Are they required for this fixture or is it OTT?

I'm not sure about the history but seems seriously over the top in my opinion.

Darren Deadman - watched him on saturday and yes was a wee bit lenient but was overall very good - and said wouldn't mind him at HP in the near future and am rewarded on my promise.

There was a foul about 20 minutes that looked a certain YC but he only warned the offender. What I saw he was pretty good though.

Does anyone know about Oliver Yates? His name was mentioned under (potential) 'retirements' (general discussion) and I must admit I had to look at the FL website to confirm that he is actually on the list of FL refs. He's not been mentioned in the last two match days which was as far back as I went. He seems to have slipped under the radar. Any news on him?

A bit disappointing that they haven't tried to do the 'jokey name' appointments on April Fool's Day like in previous years.

I think it's difficult now they don't have the whole of the National List to play with.

Some might say there are enough joke appointments during the season anyway.

Over the top or not, can we have Mr Scott and his assistants every week, yes we lost 5-1 but not a single issue with them. Can't remember the last time I said that !

It was earlier this season we had Lee Probert and he was utterly outstanding.

Rochdale v Port Vale is a jinxed fixture!

Ben Toner replaced Darren Handley in February and then the match was postponed.

Now Ben Toner has been replaced by Seb Stockbridge for the rearrangement.

Bizarrely, this is Mr Stockbridge's third Rochdale match in 2017; he refereed the game at Walsall on 2nd Jan and at home to Sheffield United on 4th March.

The change of fourth official at Charlton to Dean Whitestone is interesting. This was Charlton's first home game since the murder of PC Keith Palmer, a Charlton season ticket holder. Mr Whitestone is a serving police officer with the Metropolitan Police. He donated his match fee from the game to Keith Palmer’s family.

Respect to him and to the players who also donated their match fees, the club for such a classy, respectful memorial & for donating half of the gate receipts. RIP PC Palmer. I'm surprise Chief Inspector Horwood wasn't on the game as well.
