He was very poor when given a go in PL. Should never really have been promoted at his age in the first place at the expense of Tierney/Attwell twelve months ago.

I thought he did ok, and 4 games is nothing to go by

If you are looking for a precedence then look no further than Attwell and Madley, who were both "poor" to use your expression. But in both their cases they were given another chance (or in someone's case, a few extra chances), so if your face fits............

1 of those 4 games was with us & whilst it wasn't the sort of excellent commanding performance we saw from him in the previous season in the championship, it wasn't a horrendous performance by any means. A few minor niggly things that were perhaps a lack of experience at the higher level & maybe a bit lacking in confidence but no decisions that were dreadful or game changing bad ones. I have seen far worse displays & I'd personally rather have him as ref any day over at least 3 other SG refs!! It was a surprise promotion, to me anyway, mostly given his age but having seen him live 3 times the season before I could totally understand it because he had been outstanding. Very strange scenario all round really.
Officially a Southern Softie!

Some of the younger generation like Tierney and Madley should have come through years ago but officials like Grandad were kept on blocking that route out.

Now we have a cluster of officials at/close to entering the 50 category. Granted that with the recent formation of SG2 things are now happening, but it should have been pushed through years ago, along with clearing a lot of dead wood off the scene.

The treatment given to Graham Scott is completely unfair, he is a SG member and as such I think by this stage he should have been appointed to a PL game, last season he had only 4 one of which was below par, this is in no way a gauge of if he will be able to referee in the SG in the long run, he needs more games so that it can clearly be established if he is of the right caliber, until then he has my sympathy because it's ridiculous that he hasn't gotten a Pl game yet

Anyone know what's happened to Lee Swabey this season? I don't recall seeing him in the appointments yet. Is he injured or was he not retained this season perhaps?

IMO and from evidence I have witnessed, he is operating at a level which is, at best, appropriate to his abilities.

Scott's one red card is hardly confetti-like!

Was at the Gillingham v Bradford City game where Scott was ref, he was quite good tried to let the game flow, just a bit niggly over throw-ins.

The red card was for a second yellow which possibly could actually have been a straight red for the Gillingham player Jackson.

No complaints from me.
