Air cooled? - could be ignition advance or you may need to clean and retune the carb. If its got H2O in it. I dunno. But i do have VAGCOM and could look @ it if your in Vernon. |

yeah it's air-cooled. I just rebuilt the carb. it's a solex carb. I got it smoothed out a bit but a bit hesitant when you step on the gas. |

make sure the vacuum advance is where it should be. Find the specs in your Haynes manual and try that out. It should be a simple procedure. I had an old Datsun that was doing the exact same think and it turned out to be a bad distributor cap that was arcing. You could change yours and your wires and plugs. - they don't last forever. From there I would look for leaks in your intake ( gaskets etc. ) and then re-check the carb. There is really not much else that I can think of to go out of tune / sync. |

Yeah the vacuum advance is in the right place. It seems to have smoothed out a lot. I took it for a little drive down my back alley and it went pretty well. Brakes need some work but other than that it ran pretty smooth. Thanks for the tips though. Fun project so far, onto the brakes now. |
