Does this mean another experience Select Group official lost?
I really fear that the standard of officiating next season could drop dramatically. I make that 3 of the best referees in the country gone now.

Resignation

Apologies if previously posted but I wondered what the general reaction was toward the retirement from all refereeing of Rob Styles today?
Has occasionally courted controversy, but at 45 to walk away is quite a shock for me anyway.
Is it likely his place on the select group will be replaced?

New Kit

I've just tried to order an old Wembley Kit for the forthcoming season from A&H; the sales assistant told me that umbro are in talks with the FA to allow us to wear the new kit on the Contrib League this season. I was advised to wait and see what happens over the coming weeks if I wasn't in a desperate hurry for a new kit. Anyone else been told the same?
Chelsea appealing over Drogba & Bosingwa bans

I am interested to note that Chelsea think the bans given to Drogba & Bosingwa are rather severe! I should hope so too!

Received the new list in today and the promotions relevant to the UK are... (the full list is attached below)
Promoted to Elite
Craig Thompson (Sco) & Martin Atkinson (Eng)
Promoted to Premier Development
William Collum (Sco) & Alan Kelly (Ire)
Promoted to Category 3
Stuart Attwell (Eng) David Malcolm (NIR) & Ceri Richards (Wal)
Congratulations to all, but especially to Craig and William.
Apologies if any have gone done to that category but have no real knowledge of the Irish or Welsh officials and it gets listed as reclassified. Charlie Richmond (Sco) has gone down to Category 3.

Although the game ay be a while away yet, the referee is usually appointed at the end of June (IIRC). Who do we think it could be??
As far as I'm concerned, it will either be Phil Dowd or Mark Clattenburg with Andre Marriner having an outside chance.

SG 09/10

At the end of the 08/09 season, the SG had a combined experience of over 2422 PL matches (not sure of Mike Riley's exact amount, but it is at least 261).
Since then, Stroud and Tanner have been demoted, Styles and Rennie have retired, and Riley has become the new head of the PGMOL. Only Friend has been promoted so far.
This means, as things stand, at the start of the 09/10 PL season, the SG will have a combined experience of 1735 PL games. Quite a wealth of experience lost IMHO.

Premier & National Referee/Assistants Lists

Are these lists out mid July like normal or does anyone have cnfirmation of who is on and who is coming off the Referee/Assistants List for both SG/National Group?
How many is expected to come of the National List of Referees?
With i think 7 going on to the SG Assistants List, how many is coming off the List
And finally with Mike Riley, Rob Styles, Uriah Rennie, Steve Tanner, Keith Stroud going off the the SG Referees List will more than 1 be promoted to the SG as was rumoured on here not long ago that Kevin Friend was priomoted will another 3 be Promoted.

Cuneyt Cakir

Overall the game seemed fairly straightforward to referee which may be taken to reflect well on the officials. However I think Mr Cakir was rather harsher on the England players than on the Swedish players. I'll take as my example the booking of Hart - justified but a bit petty and officious in my eyes. But then take a look at the penalty missed by Milner and see what the goalkeeper is up to without action being taken. Now I don't think that the Swedish keeper's antics caused Milner to miss his footing but none the less it was as worthy of a booking as was Hart's - in my view.
