Maybe you could try converting it to an MP4 with handbrake? The video quality should be comparable, you probably wouldn't have any problem making an .avi or an MKV from it, and I've never had any problems loading a handrake MP4 into Aegisub.

I tried that with Yamb, and then muxed the hardsubs with avidemux, and I THINK it came out all right. It took all night, and about 15 different versions, but I think I found the perfect balance between quality encode, and filesize. PHEW. This was an ordeal, and a half. Thank you so much for those HK scripts, though. They really helped with some of the trickier lines that were wrong in TV-N's script, and they matched up close enough with UK Windom's corrections. We won't have an actual translator checking for errors on future episodes, so those HK scripts are going to be a huge asset to the project.

I'm hoping that these two links will help me with the next episode of Hibiki. I figured I'd share, in case someone with better-than-basic Japanese skills (ie: Anyone but me ;3;) wanted to correct my inevitable mistakes.

The first link looks like a solid summary, but the second looks like a dialogue of two people reviewing/watching together said episode, so I doubt if it'll be helpful.

And while this is not really needed now, I found this:
http://www.rider-scripts.com/hibiki/
On the link you'll find official scripts for episode 15,16,23,24,31,33,34,35,44,45. Too bad it's not complete, but it's still really cool stuffs.

EDIT: Also these:
http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/hibiki/02_katsudo/backnumber.html
Summary right out of the official site.
Understand some Japanese. Can also time and maybe upload stuff thanks to new ISP.

The summary might still be helpful, and it's written in a way that I can understand a little better.

BUT...

Those two links are MUCH better. Thanks again! You've saved me from stress TWICE tonight!

I've been searching Yahoo Japan for HOURS. Seriously... HOURS. And I think I hit the Jackpot. Well, for episode 2 anyway...

I'm having a little trouble with this Kanji. If anybody can identify them, let me know: http://twitpic.com/60d3bo

I think that grey could be "shadow" and that white "strenght", but that just guess after their look. Should it be one kanji, or more? I never know this, when I just see it like this.

Shadow is right, thank you!

I don't think the larger one is strength. Without seeing the bottom of it, I can't even tell what the rest of it looks like.

Even when I was very good with Japanese, I was still terrible with Kanji. Ugh.

So we figured out the second Kanji, along with about five hundred others ones that came up after. Ughhh.. I'm sick of looking at caligraphy.

MORE importantly:
I don't know how many of you saw Hibiki, but there was a HUGE error in the dialogue for episode 2, and it affects the entire plot of the series.

Basically, at one point, Asumu and his mother run into someone that she knows in the mountains. They have a brief conversation (that had some errors)
And then the man claims that he saw a man that "Reminded me of your husband"
He's talking about Asumu's father. And he's saying that Hibiki looks like him.

That's a WHOLE layer of subtext just GONE from the show with one badly translated line!
