Maybe someone from one of the other groups can help me out with this. Google is sending me deeper and deeper into a pit of confusion.

Simply put, how do I AVI?!

Oh, and just to make things more interesting: VirtualDub isn't an option because the video is encoded at an incompatible size. I've tried all of my video editing tricks, and it still comes out slanted and in black and white.

This summarises it well

http://www.my-guides.net/en/guides/general...sing-virtualdub

Edit: Ah feck, just saw your thing about Virtualdub.

What's your source footage encoded in, codec and resolution.

Edit2: Got subs to load in Avisynth. To do that you need the textsub plugin:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli...tVobSub%202.39/

Then the script is usually
Directshowsource("C:\video.wmv)
Textsub("C:\subtitles.ass)

I can tell you right now what the problem is, the video is 710X509. Not at all divisible by 16, so it drives virtualdub crazy. I've tried resizing, cropping, deinterlacing, basically all of the tricks in my bag for getting wonky video to work.

Have some mediainfo!

Thank you. I need to learn to do this on my own, but I think this is the only video file I've EVER had any trouble with.

Goddamn who the hell encoded this mess. The vertical resolution is an odd number, I can only crop by even numbers and it needs a multiple of 4 at the very least.
